I could not disagree more. Considering RG3 is going in the top 5, the 15 pick and Mark Sanchez is an awful return to get for a top 5 pick. Sanchez is not getting you up 10-13 slots in a bad draft, let alone a pretty good draft. And if a team needs a qb, no gm is settling for Mark Sanchez over RG3. That kind of stupidity gets you fired in the NFL.

We need to give Mark a chance to develop. It's not like he's been in the NFL for a long enough time for us to say he is a bust. We need to build the team around him so that he can become the quarterback we expected him to be. Making all these trades would ruin the Jets.

We dont need to allow Mark to do anything. We need to win. This development crap is a joke. If the team doesn't win, Tanny and Rex might be fired and Bill Cowher might be the coach in 2013. Thats why you either go with what you have and try to win with it, or if you dont think you can win with what you have, you go get someone who you can win with.

Why would a team want that trade? 2 years of Sanchez at huge money, and the 16th pick for a top 5 pick?

For example.... Sanchez over the next two years will be paid more than the entirety of RG3's new contract. Why would a team want to take that huge cap hit for a player who even his most strident fans admit is at best slightly above average right now.
Given the recent success of young QBs, you are much better off taking RG3, or even trading back for additional picks and signing or trading for a similar player to Sanchez for much less money in FA or less in pick value. Flynn, Orton, Campbell, Henne and Hill come to mind as being not much worse options for a tiny fraction of the cost.

That would be a terrible trade for us.

Awful return? you are getting a young QB w/ 3 years starting experience, helped his team reach 2 AFC Title games so he has big game successful experience PLUS a mid 1st rd pick for a guy who may or may not have success.

This is a silly discussion b/c the Jets wouldn't be dumb enough to make such a move.

This team can win big w/ Sanchez, we need a better D and we need to upgrade the OL and WRs and we'll be an AFC title contender again. QB is way down the list of worries.

You do realize that Sanchez has 54 NFL starts.

Why should we start over with a rookie QB?

You are right! All Sanchez needs to win big is: a better defense; a better RB ; better receivers; a betterTE; a better kicker; a better punter; better coaching; a better GM; a much better OL consisting of 5 pro-bowl OLmen; ample luck and divine intervention!

How many teams have won superbowls with rookie quarterbacks compared to the amount of teams that have won superbowls with DEVELOPED quarterbacks?

If you were expecting the Jets to draft a rookie (Sanchez) and automatically win superbowls right off the bat, then there is something wrong. Would it have been nice? Of course.

Sanchez needs to develop. He has shown us his potential. In order to let that potential reach where it is supposed to be, we need to build the team around him.

Sanchez supporters are confused because Sanchez showed more in his 24th start than he did in his 54th.

Yes I do. His first 2 seasons the Jets played great. Why? Because Mark plays well with a ground and pound offense. The running game was no where close this season, causing Sanchez to throw it more often; something he was not used to doing. In order for this team with Mark to succeed, yes they can succeed, we need the running game we used to have. Only then will Mark be able to play his best football.

He might be able to dominate in arena league, nothing against sanchez he just doesnt have it in clutch situations.

I did read it. It doesn't change the fact that KTJF attempted to defend the indefensible ... a really, really silly idea (and I am being very, very generous calling it that). He should save his knock on PatFanTX for a thread featuring at least a semi-reasonable idea.
