Baker is an outright JAG, Shockey is one of the top 5 or 6 TE in football. Having great hands but being to slow to get down the field doesn't make Baker a good TE. Baker would be the second TE on the Giants with Shockey gone. The Giants not needing Shockey doesn't mean they would unload him for a JAG like Baker.
no way. baker is a really good TE, with really good hands. he can't make a play if they don't get him the ball.
Its funny most of the posts are negative to adding Shockey. Guess we got a lot of closet Shockey fans. 69 to 50 at this post.
My guess is the numbers would change a bit today. We just drafted a TE who doesn't want to block. Why would we want another one?
Does anybody here actually watch the games? Do you see the catches the Baker makes day in and day out? The ball sticks to his hands like glue. Rarely does he ever drop a ball, hes just an animal. Bringing in Shockey is not going to help a thing because we just dont throw to tight ends enough. Baker can do anything Shockey can if given the chance IMO. I say PAY Baker what he deserves and keep this damn guy around cause hes a very underutilized weapon. p.s. F the Giants!
all 41 last year? astronomical #... and the catch he's most famous for, the one all the homers are on his jock about, wasn't even a catch, it was ruled... guess what, No catch, Jets loose. The long and short of the story, is Shockey is a cancer, but his skills are far and above those of Baker, and for a 4th I'd take a shot. But since it is now a moot point, and we now have Kellar, (not a blcoking threat but twice the receiving threat) who obviously threatens Baker's never-ending quest for more Money based on his Mediocrity, Baker has since left the off season conditioning program and requested a trade, which was denied as fast as the call came in requesting it. I say F him, play out what you signed in December of last year.... the ink aint even dry... you want a raise, earn one, how's that for a novel concept.
Because most (not all) of the Yes votes are from people are from people voting for a name, not a player.
I think things will get ironed out with Baker as long as he doesn't say something really way off about the Front Office or Team.
Yeah but why would we do that now? He is a decent blocker but not the kind we need considering that we have a pass catching TE now.....we need a crushing blocking TE to complement.
