Since Abe is most likely going to be traded, Barton coming off a serious injury, Hobson not being as good and we thought he would be, and Brown not being a force against the run, I say we go with Hawk. People dont think that LB is a concern but with us moving to the 3-4 we need 5 LB's that are starter caliber and I am not sure that we have 3. Barton is a ? and brown is not a starter at this point in his career. IMO Hobson is better suited for the 3-4 with his run stuffing ability and size but Brown is probably just a nickel LB in that system.
For me, it's Cutler, Hawk and Ferguson in that order. I think we can get two starting, quality O linemen with the second and third round picks.... I also did a study on RB's drafted in the top five over the last 20 years. Only one got to the Super Bowl with the team that drafted him, and that was only because it was Dallas, coming off a SB loss the previous year, taking Dorsett. I figure this team will be in the top ten draft positions next year.... that is the time to take an RB. Rookie RB's are ready to start faster than rookie QB's are. My eye is on 2008. Gives the new rookie O linemen time to develop and get some cohesion, gives Cutler time to develop, and we could add a WR in next year's draft too. That's my philosophy, anyways.... that and 3 bucks will get you a cup of cofee at Starbucks.
Right now, it has to be Brick. Not only is he as close to perfect as LT prospects get, he also fits a major need. Although Cutler is rapidly climbing up the charts, I still don't think he's #4 overall value.
I would choose Cutler narrowly because I don't see the Chad Pennington negotiations going well and he is the best shot at a franchise QB we're gonna have for a while. Coming down the pipe there are not strong prospects (unless we land in the top 2 next season for Brady Quinn.) On the plus side it looks like Fabini being cut has finally forced some of you guys to drop your random hate of D'Brickashaw Ferguson. He's gonna be a franchise LT--the only question is whether or not he is gonna do it here or somewhere else.
I Posted a Poll like this before tony. Not sure if you saw it It was 43 D'Brick and 42 Cutler. 28 I think DeAngelo and like 17 Hawk and like 6 or 7 Mario Williams. Lets see what everyone picks on this one.
I agree with most of it. But you're better off taking that $3 to Duncan Donuts, buying 2 donuts and superior coffee with it.
How is Barton a ? The guy was great the year before. If he healthy he's an above average starter in this league and in the past he has been able to stay relatively healthy.
