I was hoping Suggs would make the choice easier, but to no avail.

I kind of like the Rex/MM combo. Yeah the offense is stalling, but MM definitely has not had much to work with. That's why we should have a bunch of picks next year and capitalize on it.

Bringing in an offensive mind now, would also leave the defense hanging a bit. If we have to bring in a DC or HC who does;t know how to use the players and then we trade good players or let them walk... that would be really frustrating again

I thought we had a proven offensive mind already? We need offensive talent.

The jets should jettison Rex in a New York minute. He forever clings to old favorites like Bart Scott and Ed Reed and wonders why the jets can't rebuild. He drafts nothing but DL because the concept of having an offense on the team is foreign to him. He plays DL like Coples out of position and wonders why they suck--Quick, tell me what other NFL team EVER started a 290 lb. LINEBACKER. He's terrible at in game adjustments and showed in the Falcons game that he doesn't have the sense to attempt a 2-point conversion in the 4th quarter which would give a 2 TD lead. Check out nearly every press conference after every loss--Rex always says "We're going to work on that and get better!" It is quickly becoming his most used refrain since "Mark gives us the best chance to win!" If Woody had a brain he would let Idzik bring in a new coach/new approach/ fresh look at the jets instead of Mr. excuses and perennial loser Rex. That is really what the jets need--Someone to take a hard look at what the jets need without the stupid loyalty that Rex gives to his favorites.

In a heartbeat. I'm done with Rex as a HC.

Daryl Bevel or Jay Gruden should be brought in.

I repeat this constantly, but is there something that points to Rex being the one drafting or is just people piling everything on Rex because that's easy

Rex is supposed to be a defensive "genius." He was not hired for his offensive skills. Our last 4 number 1 picks with Rex coaching have been on defense--DL (Wilk), DL(Coples) , DB (Millner) , DL (Richardson). Connect the dots.

I'm gonna be real disappointed if Rex is let go. Show me another coach who has had as much success as he has with as poor QB play as he's had. He went to two AFC title games with Mark Sanchez.

But how does that prove Rex is drafting? We don't know how much influence Rex has there . Everyone though Tanny leaving meant Rex no longer de facto GM, then Idzik drafts two defensive players in the first round and everyone turned around and said no see Rex is still drafting. We don't know if he's drafting or not

forget the stats b.s.! the top defenses in the league are the ones who allow the fewest points against. the jets are not in there.

those of you in Cortland who saw McElroy throw over the top for two tds in 3 series ( green-white ) should not have been surprised when he joined the bengals and they did exactly the same thing in the regular season, giving other teams the receipe on how to beat the jets.

at this point, cro would be better paying free safety and start the nd guy ( walls) at corner with millner. then, play cover two until somebody shows they can actually play man coverage. plus, we have no olbs who can cover. maybe a 4-3 defense would better at this point. we have more dl who can play than lbs.
it's not just the offense that still needs upgrades in the next draft.

    Jets, Jets

Idzik will evaluate at the end of the season. Rex is just another part of the process. Never forget that players make coaches not the other way around.

That was with a Mangini assembled team. The last 3 years the offense has continued to struggle. 3 OC's same result. What is so special about him. We are going to finish up with a 3rd straight season without a winning record. Now today he has used the statement regarding Geno. " He gives us the best chance to win " last years statement where he threw away the season with bad personel management.

Rex is just like his old man. A defensive blowhard with no offensive prowess. Buddy did nothing as a head coach. I hope we loose every game, and Woody is forced to fire him. As long as he is our coach, this will be the result. Time and time again.

Congrats, you know nothing about football. I don't even know where to start, but here we go:

    1. Rex isn't the GM. Pisses me off to no end. GM makes the picks.
    2. Yeah, those DL he picked were bad picks. Wilkerson is one of the best players in football, Richardson may win Rookie of the Year and Coples has been very solid. He's also been fine in his new role as rush LB.
    3. Not sure what you want the guy to do about the offense - this is the least talented offensive team in football by far and that includes teams like the Jags and Bucs.

I do agree that Ed Reed should not be playing as much and that Geno should probably be pulled if they want to win games. But, the Simms stuff - we don't see the dude. Maybe he's worse than Geno right now (hard to believe.)

The only upside I see in extending Rex is that our defense remains intact and the offense has nowhere to go but up. As long as Rex has nothing to do with the offense. Great way to stockpile midlevel dp's too. Keep finishing 7-9, 8-8, 9-7 and we'll stay in the middle of the first round. With any luck at all, Idzik will get better at "shopping for the groceries" at some point.

Yes, by all means let's get rid of Rex. We may get significant;y worse on defense and not have motivated players, but by golly his replacement will sound more like a CEO in the pressers when we lose.

The only way you should be consideing getting rid of Rex is to play the long con:

    1) Get another HC
    2) Have a terrible season
    3) Get the #1 pick
    4) Hope there is a franchise QB in that year's draft
    5) Draft said QB
    6) Give him a couple years to blossom
    7) SUPERBOWL!!!

i would sacrifice rex for a guy who was an expert on either side of the ball and used his expertise to get more out of less instead of stacking his side of the ball and leaving the other side with fucking scraps.

and i would do it in a fucking second.

This debate begs the question: Is there any other team in the league where the media and fans talk about how good the head coach is on one side of the ball and completely neglects the other side? The answer is a big, fat NO. This begs the further question: Why is it ok for Rex to be so devoid of insight, strategy or leadership when it comes to the Offense? It really shouldn't be and this is a big mark against him when Idzik decides if he comes back next year or not. A Head coach is supposed to be involved in all aspects, not just defense. It's not like he has Bruce Arians calling the offense either whose a genius. He's got MM calling plays whose decent, but has been a retread HC and OC in this league for a while.
