In my opinion, the jets need to purge themselves of the Rex Ryan/Tannyidiot mistakes--

    1. Rex Ryan
    2. Sanchez
    3. Holmes
    4. Vlad
    5. Ed Reed
    6. Restructure Harris- terrible contract

The get an offensive-minded coach who will quit lobbying for drafting for just defense. He should also hire a defensive assistant smart enough to play a 4-3. The jets are defensive-lineman rich and LB poor which most sane coaches would utilize in a 4-3 scheme. Rex is so married to his 3-4 he can't see the forest from the trees. Just think of how much more effective Sheldon Richardson would be in a 4-3. Coples could go back to DE where he belongs, and we would not need retreads like Pace of McIntyre trying (and failing) to rush the passer. Never happen, though. Makes too much sense to conform your approach to your personnel.

They need to play him instead of winters for the rest of the season. I don't know if I'd bring him back without seeing some improvement in December on the penalty front.

When did that happen? I didn't see it, and haven't heard anyone talking about his having dominated Wilfork.

If he did, ok, that's once. If Idzik thinks he's worth keeping, fine, I just haven't seen anything even remotely resembling consistently average play. I've seen him make some decent to good blocks, but have also seen a lot of horrible attempts at blocks and failures.

I basically agree, but the problem with restructuring is that generally, the team has to wind up extending the player and giving him more money. He's already overpaid. Unless the team stays in a 3-4 there no longer would be a reason to keep him unless he's willing to become a backup. Isn't his contract up after the 2014 season or at least the cap hit lower if they cut him at that time? If so, I'd keep him around for 2014 since he's played pretty well this year, then waive him following the 2014 season rather than restructure him.

1st Pats game this year. It definitely happened. As good as Wilfork is, he's a good matchup for Vlads skillset. Immovable object, meet immovable object mover.

In that first Patriot game, NE eventually started using Chandler Jones in stunts at which point Vlad looked lost at times, chasing and flailng at air.

Put a body in front of him and he can lean on 'em with his mass. However, asking Vlad (figuratively-speaking) to "walk & chew gum at the same time" seems to be a challenge.
