Absolutely not. Jd, saleh Wilson are tied together now. Let it grow and assess at the end of the year. You can’t fire jd and keep saleh and end up with the same ryan /idzic shitshow.
Mandates are completely counterproductive. All they do is encourage short term thinking and desperation moves. Sustainable growth is what is required and there's no reason to set an arbitrary target as a goalpost.
I don’t want the clown that owns this team doing anything except scrawling his crayon signature over cheques. The very idea that Woodentop Johnson is in any position to demand anything from anyone is laughable in the extreme. He should be embarrassed to show up at the stadium on game day. He should be embarrassed to leave his house. He is an embarrassment of an owner.
I agree. If there is a mandate, it should be in terms of being competitive each and every week rather than a playoff mandate. The problem with mandates is that what are you gonna do if they fail to meet it? Do you fire them? If not, then the mandates lose their meaning/power. If the team is competitive each and ever week, doesn't get blown out at all, when they lose it's by a close score and they are in the game up until some point in the 4th Qtr., finish with 8-9 wins, but miss out on the playoffs, are you going to fire them because they didn't make the playoffs? If that happens, the offseason additions will be very good, if not great as will player development. So why would you want to fire them when they're doing their jobs well? That would be counterproductive imo.
I want to be excited about the future. I've long held the opinion that Joe has set himself up for this Off season to be his chance to really turn this franchise around. Play offs not expected and won't expected. I expect the odd rubbish loss, a few big wins and to be a competitive team. I need to see Zach win us a few games on his own or through good games, along with looking like we have some talent. Progress is needed. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
I don't get the point of a playoff mandate. Any coach who needs extra motivation to win should be fired regardless of result. A playoff mandate just sounds like a threat, which does nothing and helps nobody. There's no children in the room.
There just needs to be a "Don't Suck" mandate. Defense was last in the league and the Offense wasn't much better. Get the O and D at least to a middling of respectability.
Expectations for the season comes from the coach. If he's honest and communicates his outlook for the season to ownership, he'll tend to keep his job. It's when pre-season expectations don't meet results is when a coach is in trouble.
Laying down a PO mandate is the least the Bobbsey Twins can do for us fans. I'll be disappointed if he gives the 'team' another free ride to 'figure shit out'. If lighting some candles under some coaches and players asses can help even a little, hand me the lighter. I'll do my own self. And let's be fair and honest to ourselves....if Zack and company can't eek out another 4 wins in year two, then the 'zack no better than sam' and 'JD needs to go and take Saleh with him' threads on here will start and the banners will start their flyovers. This mandate may be the only one the Supreme Court upholds
Holy shit. I've obviously known I've been displeased as a Jets fan for awhile now but I have to admit I didn't realize it was THAT bad.
Yes. And I don't think there's any middle ground. Joe Douglas knew what he was getting himself into. The frustration this fan base feels is all due to repeated failures by prior GM's and HC's, but fair or unfair Joe Douglas gets all the abuse for that. That's the way NFL works in NY. However, there's even a case to be made legitimately that says the honeymoon is over and it's time for Joe Douglas to prove he's the right guy for the job. In his 4th year and after 3 drafts it's time for him to raise this team's competitiveness. It's for the fans to see a BETTER product.....
