Law of averages should have told us the Jets wouldn't reach 3 consecutive AFC championship games, and it should now tell us that the Packers can't produce 3 consecutive pro-bowl caliber QB's. Pass on Flynn.

    this.
ask buffalo fans how rob johnson worked out
    or miami with aj feely
    or arizona with kolb
history is littered with one game wonders. everyone wants to throw money at flynn for 1 game?it's better to ride the sanchez train till the end and plug all other holes . then if it has to change the team is pretty solid and a good environment for another young qb

People are quick to forget that Matt Flynn kept up with Brady and Co. in a shootout last year on MNF. The dude looked good then too. That being said, look at the weapons he has in GB, Jennings, Nelson, Driver, Finley, J. Jones, Ryan Grant doesn't suck, just unreal the talent in that offense.

Does anyone REALLY rthink the Jets are gonna give up on Sanchez in year 3 after he took this team to the AFC Championship game his first 2 yrs in the league?
    I don't.

Lets just hope for a new OC next season and see what this kid can do.

Not saying he should be deemed the starter, but bring him in to compete with Sanchez.

Learning from Rodgers (who learned from Favre) > learning from Brunell, so it would definitely be interesting to see what Flynn could do in this offense.

Brunell learned under Favre too. For every scott mitchell and rob johnson there are guys like Daryle Lamonica (Bills) and Mark Brunell (Packers) who were backups somewhere and then blossomed when they became starters elsewhere.

Didn't even realize about Brunell under Favre. Well if that's the case, Flynn > Brunell because of age.

Anyone who says they know anything about Matt Flynn, good or bad, is lying.

As a backup? Sure, he can come in and give Sanchez some competition
As the starter? Not a smart move. He hasn't proved anything, and could be worse than Sanchez.

He has always exhibited accuracy when passing the football and has good football smarts. What I don't know about is his demeanor and whether or not he could handle the pressure that would come with a starting job and a big contract.

    ********

LOL at the Feeley comparison upthread. Feeley was a caretaker when McNabb couldn't finish out that one season. Feeley exhibited no particular prowess as a QB while playing for the Eagles. It was total lunacy when Miami acquired Feeley. Flynn, on the other hand, actually played quality football when he got a chance to play vs NE last year and Detroit today.

Seriously, the man won a championship for LSU, I watched every game he was in his ONLY full year starting. So you know what I'm about to say about Flynn is about as accurate an assessment you'll find on this board.

Flynn is not a long term option. He is kevin kolb and AJ Feely and every other one game wonder QB.

Physically he is built almost identically to Greg McElroy so their is no upgrade with Flynn. Flynn was about as inconsistent as they come in his senior year. He had a good game against Auburn, but thats about it. McElroy played two full seasons at Alabama, Flynn only played one.

If the Jets want to make an acquisition at QB I want to be damn sure we know its someone who can produce in more than 4 games in the NFL

Yep, I'd take Flynn or Orton to compete with Sanchez.

480 yards and 6 TDs in his only start of the season.

Sanchez has never had a game that good -- not even at USC -- and he never will. Matty Flynn is legit.

When did Kolb throw for 480 yards and 6 TD against a playoff team?

Matt Flynn will probably be a starter next season. Probably for an NFC west team (Seattle) we are better off developing Sanchez let's hope he returns next season a much better qb outside of pretty touchdown numbers.

I would be shocked if Matt Flynn starts for any team next year. Maybe after another season Green Bay could deal him if he still looks good in preseason/injury situations/mop up time.

    edit:
I didn't see he was actually a free agent. I'd still be surprised if a team goes with him at QB week one.

    Quarterback solution (Matt Flynn)

Unite Sanchez with Pete Carroll for two mid round picks and sign Matt Flynn as our future QB and Tom Clements as our OC.

No one hates Shittenheimer as much as I do but Sanchez just does not have it. We have seen his best and now his confidence is shot so we need to move on and now waste another four years.
