Closing this. You have one thread. You don't need four.

EDIT: Merged the Matt Flynn threads.

Definitely worth taking a look at. If he's not too expensive, he's the type of young-ish, talented guy that can push Sanchez and play if Sanchez isn't quite good enough. Would wonder how Sanchez looks in practice compared to a guy like Flynn.

Sure, backup QB's have a great track record as starters (Scott Mitchell on through Kevin Kolb).

If we dont have to break the bank for him, and pay him more than 8 mil I would... Make Sanchez take a paycut and let them battle it out.

I think Flynn is a far more intriguing possibility than Manning.

I would be glad to get flynn, i would be OK to get orton and have him battle it out with sanchez - i dont see peyton as a realistic possibility

i doubt sanchez will be gone this offseason i think he gets one more year and then will be gone (unless he undergoes some miraculous transformation) - still with $50m in the bank i wont feel too sorry for him

Wasn't Tom Brady a backup QB and a late round draft pick at one time? I seem to remember that.

Yes, and the Patriots didn't give up anything to get him (beyond drafting him in the late rounds)...he played because the starter went down.

It's awesome to get lucky stumble on a backup-turned-great-quarterback. Kurt Warner is another example. It's another thing completely to give up a lot of money and/or draft picks to acquire a backup-caliber quarterback and hope he turns into a top-flight starter.

Sometimes it happens (Steve Young)...usually it doesn't.

we do need to do something however, we are not going to draft another QB in the first round as so we have to get competition (real competition) in for sanchez from somewhere

I don't particularly care for Sanchez and never have. I think Flynn is actually a better QB but I know nothing about him as a person. Could he handle the pressure of NY? I have no clue. I bet the Jets will not pursue Flynn because it is too much of a gamble as you implied. But again, do I think Flynn is better than Sanchez? Yes.

Matt Flynn playing in Green Bay offensive system looks decent.

Matt Flynn in Schottenheimer system will look no better than Kellen Clemens.

I am on the Flynn bandwagon.

But Rex would never admit he was wrong. Sanchez was his 1st draft pick, his signature move right out of the gate, the guy he will defend til kingdom come.

they did want to win that game as then they would have had a better seeding in the playoffs.

Are you kidding me.... You are telling me he is better than Sanchez because he threw 6 TDs today... Just stop you sound ridiculous. I dont give a fuck if Joe Webb throws 10 TDs in one game it doesnt mean hes a proven quality QB.

Flynn is definately not coming here to be a backup for Mark freakin Sanchez, todays game alone will make him a starter in this league and hes going to be paid like one,

Are you sure your not on crack. Sanchez is an average QB at best. He can become a good QB if the rest of the offense improves tremendously. We need a much better OL and RBs.

Sarcasm, Sanchez will never become a top 5 quarterback given 15 years and a probowler at every position.
