The first two INT's yesterday were awful reads. He was throwing into double coverage. You look at those passes and just wonder wtf he was looking at. The last one I'll give him a pass on because of the situation, but it still was a bad read.
Speaking of INT's, how great is the Jets D? It seems like they are used to the INT's and then shut down the opponent's offenses after they occur. That impresses me. As for Chad at QB, you can't really think about that. They probably win a few games with Chad, but lose others.
The first one he almost threaded that needle, the ball looked to get caught up in the wind from where I was sitting. If he threw that one a few seconds earlier he would've hit him before he was doubled. That's where I think the second guessing himself comes into play. Bottom line is he's still a very inexperienced rookie, but I think he's going to be a great QB for years once he feels comfortable in the game slows down for him. Boomer said there comes a point where the game seems to be in slow motion for the QB and Mark's not quite there yet but well ion his way.
Some Jets fans are truly unbelievable. You guys absolutely ran Pennington out of town, cheered when he got injured, and lobbied non-stop for the team to acquire a QB of the future. And then give that QB less than a full season before turning on him and romanticizing the Pennington glory days (ignoring, of course, the fact that he's out for the season AGAIN.)
Did you people even watch the game yesterday? Or any other game this season? Teams have been stacking the box against the Jets all year long and daring them to throw, which they've done with mixed success. The defensive approach to this team would be the exact same if Pennington, or anybody other than somebody like Manning or Brees, was at quarterback. Everybody knows Thomas Jones is the baddest man in town, if you want to beat the Jets, you have to stop him. If Pennington was still here, historically theres a 50% chance he would've made it through the season (by which I don't mean 16 games, but the bulk of the games and still active for the playoffs.) A perfectly healthy Pennington with these receivers, this ground game, and this defense would have been extremely effective. Look for example at 2004, a season when the Jets had a tremendous ground game, but a mediocre crop of weapons in the receiving game, and a pretty solid defense that didn't really scare anybody. In 13 games he threw 9 interceptions, as compared to Sanchez's current record of 20 in 14, and that's playing with a torn rotator cuff in the latter half of the season and the playoffs. Sadly, a perfectly healthy Pennington is rarely what you get. I like Sanchez a lot, I think he has the tools and the drive to be a great one. But for me, there's no question that the Jets gave up on Chad Pennington too early, and that if, somehow, he'd managed to stick here long enough to be playing with Braylon Edwards, this team would be well above .500.
because teams dont stack the box against us now???? Seriously guys the noodle arm shit was funny, but exactly how many times has Sanchez successfully spread the field this season? I can think of one, the 65 yarder to Edwards last week. Sanchez has no accuracy and frequently misses even the little dink and dunk passes.
Well, Pennington has not helped Miami much this year, has he? But if he did play like he played last year for Miami and stayed injury free, we are definitely a title contender. Best defense, best running game, and #2 rated passer in the League? I'd say we are a contender for sure. In fact, we are probably a contender even with average QB or below average. Unfortunately our QB is now nearly dead last starter rated in NFL, and when that's the case, instead of contender we are .500 team.
We wouldn't because Shotty stills stucks and he would not play to CP's strengths, he would just square peg him into what he wanted to do. Just like he did when CP was here.
Pennington is an after thought. I was glad when he got cut, and I'm glad the move was made to this day. Things haven't turned out exactly how I would've wanted, but it hasn't been horrible either. Just hate seeing my team go through these growing pains, but hopefully this phase will end sooner then later.
Of course not. The Jets never won anything with Penny. He's gone now please end the man love for this hack. Thank you.
Yeah it's amazing we have the number one D with all of the turnovers, causing them to be on the field so much.
Odd year so Chad is hurt (2003, 2005, 2007, 2009) so no, we would not have made the playoffs if Chad backed up by Clemens was what we had this year. Assuming we got Chad back in 2010, yes he could definitely get us to the playoffs. No, we wouldn't go far once we got there because he'd get shutdown and turned into a turnover machine by the first really good pressure defense we faced. That's history and a LOT of it at this point.
It also pisses me off that it has caused this defense to look bad in the "clutch" situations of the game. Those 4-5 games we have lost in the final two minutes because our defense gave up the points to the opposing team. What a lot of the "experts" don't take into account is the fact that our defense is constantly being put out there on that field due to a poor offense and they consistently shut down the other team. Even the best defense can only take so much before they are completely gassed out, and it has happened several times to our defense this season. It is pathetic.
Pretty much my thoughts. We'd almost certainly be better situated than we are now and we still have an outside chance. I think Sanchez has the potential to be better in the long run but with this veteran-laiden team Chad would be a better fit for right now.
I remember a QB in Baltimore winning a SB and he did very little except protect the ball. Also, I remember the same old Pennington who got hurt every year, and yet again this season. So a heathly Chad could have let us to the promise land, but it would only be a 10% chance if that he would have lasted the season.
My god we are better off with Sanchez taking his rookie lumps. Chad is a qb that would/will never ever win a Super Bowl. His window has come and gone. Sanchez, who knows? He has potential, he can make any throw and looks like he can eventually be an on field leader. There are not too many rookies that come into the league and excel..........but try telling that to this retarded fanbase. Edit: The Baltimore defense was a top 5, maybe higher, alltime great defense. This Jet defense? Yeah right lmao.
