The thing I worry about with Sanchez is over confidence. Things are going smooth as can be to start the game Sunday. Easy opening touch down drive. Safety. Jets get the ball back. Sanchez completes a pass. Feeling really good about himself. Thinks he's invincible and then boom, terrible interception. It then startles him for awhile and he becomes too hesitant.

Maybe it has something to do with wanting to have more time with his receivers?

No, it had everything to do with Mangold going down.

The whole dynamic of the offense was gone. That's how much Nick means to the offense.

I like Sanchez, but I recognize his short comings in the regular season. I think he can be a very good QB in this league, but most likely not elite, which is perfectly fine by me. He just needs to become more consistent. He's played just 2 years in the NFL, and only played 16 freakin' games in college. I always use that stat in my arsenal to defend Sanchez. I want someone here to name me a QB that started so few games in college and started right away in the NFL..I'll save you the time, there are none. Some QBs played very few college games, but didn't start right away in the NFL, and others did it vice versa. I have yet to see an example of someone who's done both. Akili Smith is the closest I've come, but even he only started a handful of games in his first year.

For whats its worth, minus the goal line.... Baxter settled in pretty darn well. I have no problems with him at center (minus the goal line)

Yeah I liked how he settled down too. But the Jets will be going from the best Center in the league to a backup rookie. Big drop off.

If he wasn't injured he'd be on a team.

It's a team sport. No single player can take the credit for wins, even the Qb.

And what about some of those less than stellar performances in the regular seasons? Again, he did not lose some of those games all by himself, although if any one player can do that, a Qb turning the ball over can. But the playoff seeding the last two years forced the Jets to play three playoff games in a row on the road. The Jets will not improve their chances of going to the SB unless they can do better on playoff seedings.

I am afraid so. It's a great opportunity for Baxter, of course. But let's not kid ourselves. Mangold is one of the three most important players on the team, and one of the two best. His absence will be felt.

My theory at the moment on the Mangold injury is that it will have almost no effect in the Raider's game. The Jets offensive line was badly under-achieving in the first two games.

I think they'll rally for the Raider's game and play better but the difference between Mangold and Baxter will make it look much the same, with a flat running game and Sanchez running for his life a lot of the time.

I expect the team to be able to cobble together a win in Oakland on Sunday.

If Mangold is gone for the Ravens and Patriots, well that's a whole different story and I hope the defense is ready to give their A+ game because that's what it will take to beat the Ravens and Pats without Mangold.

You'll need to read the posts between me and the other poster to understand the context of my post, because I'm not disputing anything you said.

Holding the ball too long is a sign that he's NOT reading defenses very well yet, and he may NOT "get better" at that. He's had 35+ starts already, so it's time for him to step up this year.

Even though Sanchez has had a "worse" start to this season than last, there's no doubt that you can see that he's just plain better.

Probably also explains why he plays so much better in the 2 minute offense. In the 2 minute offense, everything's so fast, there's no time for hesitation, hardly even time to think. It's just go go go. Sanchez seems to play better like that.
