It's hard to predcit a sweep in a best of 7 but detroit shouldn't have too many problems w/ SL and if they play like they did in the LDS and LCS then they should sweep but I expect they'll be sluggish to start the series and SL will steal a game in Det.

I'm an NL fan, I'm rooting for St. Louis. The only times I've ever rooted for the AL was 1989 and 2002, when the Giants were the NL team. Some things you just can't do.

I won't watch a sport for the sake of watching it. A team i root for has to be playing. The only sport i can watch like that is football. I hate that commercial !

It's friggin hillarious to see people saying things like "No one is going to watch this World Series because the Mets are out." When I said the SAME EXACT THING about the Yankees a week ago, I got slaughtered.

When I said I was done watching baseball for the year after the Yankees lost, I was told to stop being a crybaby and sore loser.

Amazing there's not a word about ARod on the board this morning. Oh wait, Beltran did strike out looking didn't he? With the bases loaded? And two outs? Hmm, sounds vaguely familiar.

Mets fans are showing the same behavior they abused the Yankee fans for just one week ago. Amazing when the shoe is on the other foot isn't it?

Sorry to the good Mets fans who didn't attack the Yankees with the opportunity. Guys like 3rd, who rather than jump on the "kick the Yanks when they're down" bandwagon, actually realized that there was still a lot of baseball left to play. I honestly feel bad for those I refer to as "the real fans."

As for the people who couldn't help but talk shit the past week, all I will say is HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Way to count your chickens before they hatch boys! Not that any of them are even seeing this message, since it looks like they headed for the hills around midnight last night.

What are people complaining about anyway? For the first time in quite some time, you can actually look forward to next year. The core team is more than qualified to win the division again next year, and you have a front office that is willing to make the few key moves it will take to improve the ballclub.

I'm calling it right now, if there is not a NY Subway Series in 2007, there WILL be one in 2008.

Seriously guys, the pain only lasts a couple days, then subsides. Then you can move on to discussing what those key moves are that Omar must make.

So now I'm rooting for St. Louis to win it all. I still dislike the Tigers from when they were in the AL East. They used to beat up on the Yankees all the time.

In reality though, all I can think at this point is: GO JETS!

Okay, first you guys complain that the Mets fans care about the yankees too much, and now you're bitching that we're not talking about A-ROD? Makeup your damned mind! Besides, AROD had, what, one hit in the first game of the ALDS and that was it? I'm sure if you ignore Beltran's hits throughout the series and his three homeruns and four or five RBI's their playoff performances were absolutely identical

I'm looking forward to this team for next year. One year older, one year wiser, and one year better

Way to generalize Mets fans, about half of the Mets fans posted laughing at the Yanks, however most of the knowledgeable ones didn't say anything of it, or should I generalize all Yanks fans with the DRobs and rogerblazes of the world, and as for you not watching the playoffs because of the Yanks being knocked out, I see no problem with that

And as for Arod, it was Yankee fans burying him more than ANYBODY on the board, so please save it, and Arod's performance is still much more pathetic than even Wright and he was horrible, and Arod can't sniff Beltran's jock if you compare their performances in these playoffs

Hopefully Mets/Jets fans can enjoy a win this Sunday to help quell the pain.

What did Yankees/Jets get to help out with the loss to Detroit? 41-0.

Dude, you and scene fall into the same category as 3rd. I wasn't talking about you guys. You fall into the "I honestly feel bad for you guys" group.

Like I said, the guys who are the targets of that post are the ones who aren't around to show themselves today. They know who they are.

If the mets get the pitching worked out they will be good for years to come.

    Fully agreed.

The only exception I would make is Beltran. I know guys will be up in arms, but I have never been a Beltran fan. I was praying the Yankees didn't pick him. I have always felt he is overrated.

He may or may not be, and I don't know for sure yet. He's hit in the postseason, so he is definitely more comfortable than ARod. I just don't think I would either of them at the plate in a critical situation.

I have to give credit to the Yankee fans I was expecting alot of nonsense today. Maybe it has to do with some of the more uh "instigating" fans moving on after the Yankees were eliminated but we finally seem to have reached a point where we have a break in the hostilities from one side(even after some disgraceful behavior from some Mets fans after the Yankees lost). Hopefully Mets fans will remember this when next season rolls around.

Its because we generally have good yankee fans on this site. Not those '96ers who don't know shit. I was reading nyyfans.com before. It seems like the majority of posters on that site have now formed an elephant chain since they're so fucking happy about last night. I'm glad we've got better people here than that.

Guys, seriously, I hope I didn't offend you particular guys. You probably know the ones I was referring to. I honestly feel for you today. That was a crappy way for it to end. I think it was probably more heartbreaking than what we felt. We just got blown away. You guys were honestly competitive down to your last outs.

What 3rd is saying is basically what I was calling for a week ago. We were on your side throughout your series. It wasn't about bandwagoning, or kissing your asses. It was about knowing how good it feels to take it all home.

Those Lasorda commercials are absolute crap. Who the hell wants to watch their competition celebrate?

I like the conversations here. The informed "real" fans are great to chat with. I think there are 96ers types on both sides of the fence. Fortunately, we have a pretty large contingent of decent people, who honestly love New York sports.

Again, I look forward to our meeting in October within the next two years.

Mets and Yankees both need pitching it should be fun to see what pitches mets and yankees will battle over in the off season.
