I'm not denying that the Mets need to do a better job and that the Phillies have done a better job. I just don't see how the fact that the Phillies won it all makes the Mets need to do a better job more pressing than if they had lost in the first round. Either way they are behind Philadelphia organizationally at this point.
It's a pride thing. The Mets let the Phillies win the World Series. They had the East locked up, and choked, and a division rival won the title because of it. It's the same thing had the Yankees beaten the Red Sox out. Pride.
Those numbers actually work out pretty well. What's interesting is that after 3 out 4 years of great postseasons from 2001-2004, there have now been 3 straight bad ones from 2006-2008.
Congrats 2 the Phillies, they just out played the Rays and you know what? As a Rays fan...This has been a special feeling and if the Rays can have a special season like the Rays of 2008, that just gives me hope that the Jets can make the SB one day. It's sad that we lost but you know what? I'm proud of my team and have faith that we will be back within the near future. Kazmir Shields Price Garza Sonnanstine/Jackson Pitching wins games and the Rays have a boat load of young talent. Hats off to the Phillies, they deserved this world series - just wish it wasnt against my team. No excuses, but... If the Rays would have finished off the Red Sox in game 5... If our bullpen woud not have allowed those guys to comeback from 7 runs... I feel we would have played a better world series, that game 6 and 7 really took alot outta the Rays.
I've yet to see a post where he didnt include the starting rotation. I'm not sure he can do it. It's almost as if he is paid to include it in every post.
Yeah, and if Billy Wagner did not get hurt, and Ryan Howard did not get hot the last month of the season, and if John Maine did not get hurt - maybe the Mets would have made the playoffs. BUT BUT BUT...
This should provide some level of entertainment for us... I can't wait for TBJFs spin on this move. Moving a "sure HoFer" for Holliday.
