Why is everyone so eager to buy into every little notion of controversy the media tries to portray? Why even bother being a fan of this team if people are just gonna flip their lid & bash ownership/management w/ every newspaper article released?Don't any of you have some pride for this team? If your outlook is really this dreary I feel sorry for you. Has Woody ever actually come out & said he 100% wants hard knocks? All he said in an interview was that there was some good, & some bad and that they would have to weigh the options. How that suggests that he's hell bent on a return is beyond me. The media has become so predictable w/ creating controversy it's laughable. You saw this story being surfaced weeks ago. As for those of you who think Woody doesn't care about winning or his coach/Gm's thoughts..consider this: - 6 months after building a massive state of the art headquarters/team facility his new head coach felt it was important to get away from the bright lights of the tri-state for TC. How did Woody respond? He used his resources & put up the cash to allow the entire team operations to leave florham park & go upstate as Rex so wanted. But no...Woody doesn't care about winning..it's all about attention.
This time you unfortunately have completely missed the point. First of all we are fans of the New York Jets, not the New Whatever Woody Johnsons. And why is Woody writing a check to train in Cortland three and two years ago supposed to overcome all the circus nonsense lately?
..And herein lies the problem with the majority of Jet fans. The complete inability to look at the big picture. It's "what have you done for me lately" to the absolute extreme. A selfless act built primarily on winning & empowering your football people means NOTHING b/c it happend 3 years ago. Meanwhile the "Controversy of the week" propunded by a completely unreliable, tabloid-esque media brigade, being based off pure hypotheticals and knee jerk reactions is pure gold, right?
That's about where I'm at. I'm guessing Rex doesn't want cameras all over so he can at least run his mouth in "private".
I'm starting to think Woody is pretty much the fan who posts on the message boards every time any player is released and creates a ridiculous thread saying that we should sign him. That and sits on his Madden devising fantasy trades that he can hopefully talk the GM into doing. Only difference is he is a billionaire.
Woody is all in it for the money...he doesn't give a sh*t about winning a trophy. Bring back the Hess family.
And people wonder why I have changed my mind about this owner who clearly wants headlines over championships.
what is so bad about hard knocks, the first time around everyone said it would be a circus and we would have a bad season as a result. In reality we arguably had our best season since winning the SB.
Rex said it was a distraction not too long ago. It really sounded like he wanted nothing to do with it again.
we don't need to do hard knocks again this year. Rex is finally just trying to concentrate on football.
i would have loved to see the jets on hard knocks again. but if rex is against it and woody still decides to do it.. wow, that would be really fucked up.
After last year's on the field and locker room meltdown, everything about Hard Knocks is wrong for the 2012 Jets and if fans like you or Woody can't see that, the situation is borderline hopeless.
Who knows what the truth is regarding Woody and Rex, but I know what I want, and that is Hard Knicks being nowhere near the Jets. I see nothing good that could come out of it.
I have to agree with this, until there is some sort of concrete mention from anyone involved with the team, this story is an invention by a dickhead sports writer wanting to make the natives restless. No volcano god exists without the presence of lava.
