Wow More than 200 posts all based on an unsubstantiated "report" from a blogger the Jets were courteous enough to grant a first interview with despite his being sh1tcanned by Denver nearly five years ago. Obviously bitter as we can all understand. Once a prominent football exec now reduced to scraping out a menial income writing a blog in Denver Colorado
It's too bad that the reality of the situation is so evident that we didn't need a blogger to point out that the team owner was lying. Also pretty fucking pathetic that the Jets - and Woody specifically - interviewed a guy that was really nothing more than a blogger, huh? Fuckin homers.
I don't think any of what you are saying here is unreasonable. Woody has not been perfect as owner...he has alot of things he needs to improve upon both directly as well as within the organization's structure.
Got any proof? probably not, you'll fill yourself with loads of conjecture taking swipes at people probably.
Well, I certainly try to be reasonable. Heh. I want to be optimistic, too. I think you may believe that, even if some others may not. I felt pretty good about the Marty hire, and am willing to take a wait and see about Idzik. I think the situation will require them to get rid of Tebow, and that will be addition by subtraction. If they can just get to some resolution of the Qb situation, most likely by getting a hold the fort guy in there to replace Mark and either this year or next (probably next) getting a Qb for the future with a high pick, this team can be on the road to future success. But then Woody goes and says something like this, which shows me he has not really decided he needs to run the team differently than he has up to now. And I also criticized not only retaining Ryan but his saying that has already been decided no matter who the new GM is and what he might think of Ryan. I want to be optimistic, but for me Woody is making it too difficult to be so.
logic would say that this is a matter of pinning the blame on 'the other guy' (the guy who's now gone). but why would they want to soil tannenbaum's name if he really wasn't responsible. they've already gotten rid of him. courtesy dictates you talk kindly about the fired party. and i suspect woody is a courteous person. who knows...massive speculation.
Sorry Abyssmal but DONE with you. I understand. You.hate the Jets and everything about them. I can find your loathing at pats fan message boards, no need to read it at a Jet fan board. Consider this my final direct response to you
http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/je...all?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter If in fact Woody used the word "Forced" regarding Tebow he is an outright liar. He owns the team either he gives guys the authority to make decisions or he doesn't in either case the use of the word forced is very telling. Owners aren't forced to do anything that's why you become an owner. I can imagine a scenario where the owner gives his GM close to full latitude when it comes to trades and signings of this kind. I can see Woody mentioning to a potential GM candidate that he gives his GM full authority and one of the reasons Mike is gone is his poor acquisitions including bringing in Tebow who was extremely divisive. Forced is a very direct term it implies Tannenbaum was canned because he raped the owner. I’m pretty sure at worst it was date rape.
Parcells presided over 1 playoff team in 4 seasons as Jets honcho. Woody has presided over 6 in 12 seasons since Parcells left. This despite a major cap purge that saw much of Parcells talent base erode over the three seasons after he left. This including the starting QB getting replaced due to ineffectiveness or injured early in the season in 3 of the 6 seasons the Jets missed the playoffs. I don't give Woody a free pass at all. I've said on numerous occasions that I think being an NFL owner has a learning curve and that Woody has been thrown by it more than once. I believe that the evidence supports the notion that Woody has been an above average owner since acquiring the Jets. There's always room for improvement and I'm hoping that occurs since that's what it is going to take to get the Jets over the top. No position in an NFL franchise is more important than the owners. Look at who wins championships and whatever the configuration on the field and in the front office you will find a good owner in the skybox. A bit of honest feedback here. You hate Woody and you take every opportunity to make that clear. The stuff that you talk about is sometimes grounded in reality and sometimes not but the incessant hatred makes whatever value is there dissipate in it's wake. You accused me of being a Woody homer. Well, I would say more that I am a slightly biased observer. It has been a lot more fun watching the Jets over the last 12 years than at any other similar span in my tenure as a Jets fan. To a hater anybody who is not hating looks like a homer.
I agree that "forced" is a very strong word & if that's the word Woody actually used...it looks very bad. I'm just not sure we can really read too much into vocabulary choices given the fact that this is all second hand hearsay from a job interview
It's second hand and it was expressed in a medium that "forces" people to use simpler more direct words than might otherwise be used.
The fact that it even came out at all sounds to me that it was an intentional leak that Woody wanted out there. The guy not only used the word "Forced" he clarified the meaning.
Nonesense it was an authorized leak and it didn't just cover Woody's ass it covered the team Presidents ass.
Jets fans are really as dumb as other fans say they are. Unless Rex starts yapping about how his team sucks and Woody says Tebow has a better shot of finding love than being on the Jets, they of course are liars. Are you people serious or stupid or a little from Column A and B? The fact that someone has to point out that if Woody told the media "Tebow will not be in a Jet uniform next year", a kneejerk reaction the media would BAAAA-LAST HIM! You people really can't see that? Wow, how's your bunker holding out for the Alien invasion?
I don't see this as likely. The Tebow issue was almost dead before this came up. The only thing people were waiting on was his release. The Jets had essentially shaken off much of the negative karma from acquiring him. The Sundquist tweet gave the issue more legs and it put Woody in a situation where he really had no good options to respond.
