I do like Murrell's rotating football avatars. As to now, I should have said Columbia Blue in reference to Rich Caster. Barf, Oilers, anyway.

Any word on Erik Ainge? Or is he the water boy, for all intents and purposes, at this point?

an improved record starts with higher expectations. go woody! his expectations seems in line with most ppl on this forum. the jets spent millions. the jets should get a few more wins.

WTF do people want from Woody? The guy buys the team, tries to move them to NYC only to have politicians make it impossible (and spends $65million doing it). He spends as much as any owner on free agents to improve the team, he is trying to have a stable management team versus being reactionary to every fan whim.

He's made the playoffs 50% of the seasons he has owned the team (compare that to Hess), and people make ridiculous comments about him.

I don't know how big a fan Woody was prior to owning the Jets, but he hadn't been making runs at every NFL team that came on the market. Unlike Malcolm Glazer, who purchased Manchester United only for the prestige of owning a top tier club, Woody has gone after one team, which he got.

I don't understand what he should be doing that he isn't...people always have a beef.

I'm in total agreement with you...I'd rather have an owner that maintains realistic expectations, doesn't mettle, and let's the football guys do what they need to do. He's shown the patience to let Mangini develop his players and program rather than running him out of town only to start over again. Hopefully Mangini is able to take advantage of the confidence and stability he's been given.

The Jets were not only a playoff team when Woody bought the team but one of the top teams in football. There have been some peaks and valleys since, but the trend has been downhill.

The whole WSS deal was a way for Woody to bring in a more urban and upscale crowd, plus he wanted to do the real estate part of it more than he wanted to benefit real fans.

He let Tags make him take Herm Edwards, and sat back while him and Badway drove the team into the ditch. He only got rid of Edwards when Edwards made it impossible to keep him. Then Woody went to hire from the Belichik tree a guy who did very little for them in actuality. The verdict is out on Mangini, but I think it is far to early to give Woody credit for that hire.

Now you have the PSL think coming up, mismanagement of parking last year, the whole trend is against the regular people who make up the fan base but who Woody would rather change out.

He also is the largest contributor, other than the government, to Partnership for a Drug Free America, which is a total scam and sham.

His life experience is one of hte best arguments ever for why we should not only not get rid of the Estate tax but need to beef it up. He's never accomplished anything of significance in his life other than being born Woody Johnson. Why I should like this guy completely escapes me.
