Well I'm saying if the reporter asked him if the Tebow move was driven by him, a good deflection would be "If it works out great, I take full responsibility and start laughing".

I think you agree that Woody made this move more so if not completely for PR reasons than for football reasons? If that is the case, if he comes forward and says I was behind this move, it would clearly allow more leeway and possibilites for the media to take and run with the trade was only for PR purposes.

EDIT: saw Vanderbuilt post above. I agree it wasn't funny, but I think it was an okay deflection of the the question. Not the best, but he clearly can't say he was the driving force behind the move.

The bottom line is he is the owner. If he chose to stay out of football moves, then he could legitimately say he is not responsible for them. But if as we know he does gets involved in football decisions, it is fair to conclude he approves of all of them.

Dodging the question about who is responsible for the Tebow trade was not only unfunny, it ignored the fact that he is responsible. He is no matter how many jokes he attempts.

Whether it was a joke or not, the question is who would take the responsibility if it backfired? We now know Tanny did even though it was a joint decision between him and Rex. We never did hear an admission it was a mistake by any of the three nor do I expect one to ever come.

There is always an element of truth inside every joke. Think Woody wouldn't have gloated and rubbed it in the media nose if did prove to be good move? Take the credit but not the blame. Like Herm says "put your name on it".
