If that were the case, should the Jets consider a trade up to snag Young (or Leinart or Bush)? That would cost a 1st and 2nd I beleve, which is too costly given the needs of the Jets. Still...its interesting.
I really am against staying at #4 unless Vince Young is there, I would much rather trade down to get Cutler or Williams. I'm not a big D'Brick fan because Jones isn't really a RT and we'd be stuck with two LTs and no RT. Plus I think we need a big playmaker on offense at QB or RB, and if we had to stay at #4 Young or Cutler would be a better value than Williams or White.
If there's a chance to get a good QB at #4, we have to have our heads examined if we don't go there. The chance may not come again for a very long time (and we should all hope that's the case). Not only that, consider the new coaching staff. New coach... new QB to groom... a whole new start from the top down. "It don't get no better than that."
Trade down a few spots, if possible, get another third round pick, and take Cutler. I agree with 227, you don't get many opportunities to draft QB's early in the first round, and while only 60% or so of 1st round QB's pan out, it's a risk I think we have to take. It takes a couple of years to develop a QB, and we can't put it off.
I don't care whom they pick...all I know is that Bradway will not be the one drafting for us come draft day.
I agree. I don't think there is any doubt they like him alot. There were rumors that Mangini has a pretty big crush on him. I really wouldn't be suprised or upset if we traded down a few slots and took him. We need to begin with a QB who can do it ALL...Jay can.
Its gonna be a QB. IF Leinart soomehow drops than he is the no brainer selection. If not Cutler will be the man if he is available. I think Brick is gonna end up going #3 to either Tenn or Houston..
Not saying we don't need O-line but the draft is top-heavy in O-linesmen. We can still pick up a serious player at the beginning of Round 2 and later. Take a potential franchise QB with your first pick and give it a shot. Strap on some balls.
If the team remains with the rosters as is and assuming that #1,2, and 3 are Bush, Leinart and Young then I would think that Ferguson will be our pick. But now it seems that John Abraham will leave us and as this is a deep Oline draft, the Jets will draft his replacement, Mario Williams at #4. Now, I still believe that the Jets are going to try to trade down, and if we do, I have no idea what I want them to draft, but I don't want Cutler. I voted DE.
Why? D'Brickashaw makes absolutely no sensee to me at all. That is a Bradway type pick.... a bad pick.
I personally would do whatever we have to - to get Vince Young... This is a guy who will guaranty 10 wins per year for a team once he gets going. He make some team instantly competitive! And I'd like it to be us.
It is not something that I want, but right now with the way they are working things out I only can think of that, and I believe Mangini will build an average O-line with some experienced players out there for next season, I also believe that Chad will not be ready in Mangini's view to start next season, so I don't expect him to play a game next season maybe until week 6 or something like that, don't be surprised if he doesn't play at all with that massive pay cut they want him to take, so I expect someone else playing next season at QB, and in Brees situation the only way San Diego can keep him is to Tag him and right now the rumors are that he is a goner and that Rivers can do his job because he has LT behind him and Gates is an easy target. But as I said before it is not something that I would like, I would love to see Chad back and play good and that our O-line at least can hold a 4 man pass rush, because this years O-line coudn't even hold a 3 man pass rush and it was very frustrating, but that is the way I see it, maybe they draft a QB in the 2nd Round, and test Chad in the first weeks of the season, but we still have a long offseason to go.
