I don’t remember where I read it, it may have been you or JV, but there was something about Shanahan type systems loving McCarthy more than everyone else
I don’t think it was me, so probably JV, but as we’ve seen over the years, all it takes is 1 team to fall in love with a guy. Best case scenario for us is tomorrow’s game is a 49-42 barn-burner where both guys (Penix and McCarthy) go for 400+ and 3-4 TDs.
Just keep in mind, there are at least two or three combine warriors we've never heard of who will suddenly be top 10 picks by draft day. NEVER pick those guys. If they're available, trade down.
A lot of mocks don’t have a defensive player being picked inside the the top 10. The last time that happened was before 2000.
So basically and after falling out of the top 2 tackle lottery range the Jets are picking 13th now after the pick swap happens with LV on the Adams trade. The fleece blueprint was laid out for that last winter. Just a matter of Las Vegas playing the same exact negotiation hand that Green Bay did on a trade they know we can't/won't walk away from. If you don't see that coming it's because you ain't trying to see it lol
Exactly. If there's a dumb move to be made, this GM will make it. I can't wait to see what we do with this pick. Do we go CB or RB with the pick, just to change it up from continuing to draft along the DL? Or do we keep stocking the DL? Trade for Adams? Trade it away for a shitty TE and a kicker? Who knows, all options are on the table with this abysmal front office. The only thing we do know is that we won't be using it on a player that will actually help this team next year in a position of need.
Im surprised no one mentioned trading down with the first pick, particularly if there is a desirable QB sitting there.
I don't know about Bowers, guys. To me this is another luxury pick. Not as bad as last year, but still. We do not have a young OT on the roster. If Fuaga is there, we run to the podium. If not, maybe trade back a bit, get a second round pick, and get two OLmen. It's just that this year showed that a team cannot function without a deep OLine and even the best we had going for us - star QB - can get destroyed without protection. We have to do something about that, and drafting a TE, when we have two good ones already is not the way to go.
I'm thinking trading the pick to the Bengals for as much as we can get. I feel like plugging as many holes as possible to help Aaron Rodgers is likely preferable to drafting Bowers who while great plays a position we're fairly OK on. After watching this season I think we can all agree we need a little infusion of talent/depth on the OL. And I'm not sure I see a path to accomplishing that if we spend our 1 top pick on any kind of receiver.
