That's just silly, of course I don't believe it. I'm sure Rex forgotten about offense more than I'll ever know. That said, there is a difference between being great at stopping offensive plays & being great at making them work. The idea that Rex can help with nuts & bolts of making those plays work -- that's what I argue against. Sparano was hired because, like Rex, he is a believer in G&P and actually knows how to iron out the details to make it work.
I don't believe any different than what you said there. That's low level though - specifics. Vision does not equal specifics. Vision is "if we have to pass the ball, then we'll run it 50 times". How that's implemented is entirely up to Sparano. That was Ryan's vision last year and the two previous years before as well. Yet somehow Sanchez ends the Giants game with 59 passing attempts. Schottenheimer was doing his own thing. Sparano will follow what Rex wants out of the team. It will be Sparano's decision on the nuts and bolts, but it will still conform to a vision Rex has that Schotty could not follow.
With the roster they had...i think they overachieved and he did a hell of a job. I also thought Pennington looked like a completely different qb. The year they won the division, their roster was perhaps better than the Bills. Im all on board for his attitude and his philosophy right now. His no nonsense approach is exactly what this offense needed. Usually a pessimist, I think this team is going to shock people this year.
