I understand. I was just posting my basic drafting philosophy on QBs. Every year people talk about which QB we should take in the mid-late rounds. IMO, unless a guy I had rated as a top-of-the-2nd-round-talent falls, then I pass.
I have recently heard several guys saying the same thing. They all feel he would be a great bargain in rd 3. He sure has the size and arm.
I think we take a safety in the 4th round unless bpa dictates otherwise. Itd be nice to get a good safety prospect and have him compete with J Bush for the FS spot. Bush doesn't get many snaps but hopefully he is developing. I do recall a nice hit on Brees that drew a ridiculous flag.
I want to go after guys who were productive players but had bad combines. Too often it's the other way around, and it doesn't work out. I bet if a team went with that theory it'd payoff for them. If we used that theory we wouldn't have drafted D-Rob, DuCasse, Stephen Hill…. Regarding WR's, I don't care that much about speed times. I want guys with hands who run good routes. In today's NFL, speed doesn't matter as much. What matters is running the route correctly to the spot on the field where no one is.
YES! this is a move I've been saying since he got hurt. If he heals right, he may be a stud at the next level. A year on the bench to rehab / learn the game while seeing if Geno is going to work out.
Just ask the Raiders how that 40 speed has panned out for em.. yet they keep going back to that failed philosophy
I agree with your philosophy for starters and I assume that when you said "QBs" you meant starting QBs and not backups too, or do you think backups should be drafted highly too? If so, then I disagree. If both your QBs are drafted that high, then more than likely you wind up with a QB controversy and wind up having to trade one of them. That's not necessarily a bad thing as one can generally get a 1st round pick in return for a good QB, but then you have little stability in your QB corps, if you're continually trading away one of them every year or two to avoid a controversy. Even if Geno does prove to be the answer at QB, they're gonna need a long-term backup. Would you still draft him in round 1 or 2? I would think 3rd-4th round would be where a team looks for its backup.
Sorry, but I think you're wrong that those three bolded players wouldn't have been drafted if the Jets took productive players who had bad Combines. All three bolded players were good, productive players in college. Ducasse played at a smaller level, but he was a dominant player. I think DRob was the highest rated DT in that draft. Hill was a project, but he had been productive at Ga Tech. I remember Tanny being high on him because he was supposedly a good blocker. LOL
I wouldn't hold my breath on Bush. I don't think he'll ever be more than a role player, if that. I think he's a marginal NFL talent.
I read somewhere that Dri Archer wasn't invited to the Senior Bowl for some odd reason... Now I am wondering even if he kills it at the 40 yard dash if he falls to day 3. If so he has to be the team's 4th rounder.
Depending on what we do in the early rounds I think the 4th round would be good to take either a RB or QB. If we are drafting in respects to need in the early rounds: 1st round: WR 2nd round: TE 3rd round: FS 3rd rounds: OLB 4th round: QB/RB Would LOVE this: 1st: WR Marqise Lee 2nd: TE Austin SeferianJenkins 3rd: FS Tre Boston 3rd: OLB Michael Sam 4th: QB Aaron Murray/ RB Marion Grice
