If Wilfork is a UFA, what do the Pats get back in return?

    That makes no sense.

Why would we want Wilfork anyway? We have Jenkins.

I think the better question is why wouldn't we want him? Are you serious? You don't think Rex would be able to wreak havoc with Jenkins and Wilfork on the DL?

exactly, the Pats get nothing back in return if he is a UFA. but I think he is thinking they could sign and trade him as an option, which doesn't happen in the NFL nor make any sense. why would Wilfork resign with the Pats just to be traded instead of just signing with the team that wants him?

I was saying best case scenario as a jets fan, would be Wilfork becoming a UFA and getting signed elsewhere (thus the pats getting nothing in return)

Sure, in a fantasy world, it wold be great. While you at it, maybe we can make a run at Allen and Freeny too. Imagine the havoc he could wreak with that line up. Now, taking a break from the fantasy world and getting back to reality...we have other spaces to fill and finite resources to do so.

It's already been beaten to death in this thread that there's no way he is coming here. Your question was why would we want him. That's what I answered.

Why wouldn't we want Allen or Freeny either? Of course we would.

they wouldn't get anything in return period. He's a UFA.

If they get Wilfork back, then nothing changes. Its like he went nowhere.

Exactly. If they get him back they keep an all pro player, if they franchise tag him they could trade/keep him, or best case scenario he becomes a UFA and they lose their best defensive player and get nothing in return.

If we can snatch a defensive player away from the Pats, I want it to be Leigh Bodden.

Happy to see another Bodden fan... I'm amazed he isn't getting tp notch dollar... the guy is one of the most physical corners in the NFL!

If they lost Bodden AND Wilfork I probably wouldnt be worried about the Pats having 7 picks in the first 2 rounds over the next 2 years.

While I think they'll both be franchised nothing like beating the dead horse a little. best case scenario is the Pats lose Wilfork (of course if he went to Miami that would be a wash) and get nothing in return. After Belly kicked Seymour in the balls last year there is no way he goes back to NE and would anybody be surprised to see Belly do the same thing to Wilfork? Pats sign Wilfork to long term deal and trade him to St Louis for a 2nd this year and 1st next year!!!

This Final 8 plan is garbage, you are essentially punishing teams that have success. Of all the teams in the Final 8 the Jets and Ravens were the ones that had the most to build on and they essentially lose a year of being able to sign FA's. Not that I have any regrets about our playoff run but of all the years to do it....

If we cut the ghost would that leave us room to sign a player like Seymore or maybe somebody else with a large contract considering the size of his contract?

In the fantasy world in which we had Jenkins, Wilfork, Freeney and Allen, I think we'd play alot more 4-3.

F Seymour we dont need another 31 year old NT who demands a lot of cash. Wilfork is a beast though and hes only 28. I wouldnt mind seeing his fat ass or Bodden for that matter on our team.
