You got there before I did. Statistically, you're bound to find talent if you're GM for a long enough time. It's whether you're consistently good at evaluating talent that we're looking for here.
all he does is mostly win. took three teams from basement to super bowl. has a ring. yep, you are right he stinks....
did you catch jets post game live? schein said jets tried to replace qb coach but nobody would take the job. what does that tell you about sanchez?
I agree but it also should be noted that Manning never restructed his contract to allow the team the flexibility to make many moves. Throw in they drafted so low every year it's hard to find top of the line talent.
Bill Polian made the Colts into what they were by drafting Peyton Manning. He also turned them into what they are now by having terrible drafts for the last 6 or 7 years and forcing his son into the general manager position in the Colts organization. He had some really good drafts from about 1998-2004 and then it all went downhill and those stars from those drafts got old, or left to go to other teams like Edgerrin James.
you mean like how chad tied up so much of the jets salary cap , signing a contract offer after 6 games starting, so we had to lose ol talent because we didn't have the cap room to re-sign them? tanny/bradway makes no difference. the steelers are a great example of a team that consistently wins because they won't over-pay one position at the expense of overall team talent and depth. just ask wr wallace!
I wasn't defending Tanny in my post. Was just trying to help people realize that Polian isn't exactly a clear cut golden savior to this football club.
I Do Think It Time To Get A Professional In here Tannenbaum is a bean counter and now he is exposed for not getting better talent in here to run Rex team. The linebackers are slow, his handling of Schottenheimer last year and his handling of the right tackle spot the last two years. Polian would be a huge upgrade and its time to put the Tannenbaum experience to bed.
Bring in some young blood someone with a new vision Doug Whaley- Bills Asst. GM/raised in Pitts front office Nick Caserio- Pats Director of Player Personnel Marc Ross- Giants Director of College Scouting just to name a few guys
I don't know man, he built 3 different teams up for a total of Seven Super Bowl appearances, granted they only won one, but still, that's pretty impressive. Tanny hangs his hat on losing 2 afc championship games, who has the more impressive resume???
Hmm, I def think anyone from the giants, Pitt, or Baltimore org would be interesting, those teams know what they are doing for sure.
For that to happen....Woody has ti be prepared to give Polian complete control. I don't think he has the balls to do that. I don't Rex's ego would allow him to take orders from Polian. I think Polian would tell Rex he has to cuts his publicity-seeking ways. I don't Rex can change.
I think that says more about the Jets and their organization than Sanchez. I don't think it any good coach would want to enter this three ring circus the Jets have going for themselves with Sanchez and Tebow. It's a lose-lose situation.
That's the biggest reason for any team to not bring in Polian. Father & Son both come in one package.
