In the summer of '71 or '72 I was fortunate enough to go with about 3-4 other kids on a special tour of Jets camp (It was at Hofstra, one of their first years there) We got to eat lunch with Winston Hill. He ate a pile of corned beef that was about 5 inches high. I didn't know what it was at the time and he gave me a piece. Since it was the only time I ever ate with a professional athlete, it was very memorable for me. At the first game at Met Life, when he was inducted into the Ring of Honor, my sons asked who he was. I told them about the corned beef. They were not that impressed.
Winston Hill was probably the be best O-linemen the Jets have ever had, and they've had some very good ones, and he played in an era where O-linemen couldn't use their hands.... RIP man, thanks for the memories!
RIP Winston Hill. You were one of the best players in Jet's history. I consider myself blessed to have watched you shine for all those years. Seeing , and talking to you at Joe's summer camp in Hamden, Ct was also a thrill. All and all, a great player, who was an even greater person.

A truly great player and by all accounts a great man as well. It is only anti-AFL bias that kept him out of the Hall of Fame.
