Quite a big difference with Fields as Fields is completely blind to the rush, panicking in the pocket and causing most of his own sacks. The difference with Zach he is extending plays and running from rushers. So of course Zach will have longer time in the pocket. Running away from a rusher rather than into a rusher will of course extend the time.

Fields had the same problem in college taking sacks at twice the rate under pressure compared to Zach, Jones and Trevor, running the ball under pressure at twice the rate and throwing the ball under pressure under 60 percent of the time 20 percent less than the other QBs. It is not surprising that Fields is doing the same at the pro level. What is alarming is the big hits that Fields takes because of his lack of awareness. Wait, NM he had the same problem in college.

The Jets OL is last in the league in pressure percentage allowed. But it is not just pressure but the type of pressure that is alarming. Pressure up the middle and untouched blitzers. Despite all these problems Zach had more passing net yards after one pass play yesterdat than Fields had all game as he led the bears to 5 yards passing and 47 yards of offense. Perhaps the worst offensive performance in the league in many many years. Now imagine how bad Fields would be on the Jets with the worst OL and receivers dropping 7 to 8 passes per game. 20 sacks? Negative 100 yards passing?

Wilson is also on a 40 INTs pace.

The receivers aren't getting separation and the OL is trash. Wilson looks like a different player from the first game to this one, he's getting Darnoled and it's sad.

Wilson has had an average of 1.7 seconds before the pocket collapses this year. The QB's who are quickest to throw usually average a time to throw in the low 2 second range. This isn't Wilson's fault. He's behind by far the worst pass protecting OL in the league.

RP for truth. And I guarantee none of these clowns turned the Bears game on or even have the services to watch it.

why would we watch the Bears? We are Jets fans. Sounds like we didn't miss much anyway. The Bears were outmatched and outclassed

Why would you comment on the Bears as if you did, if you did not?

Can we not turn this into a Fields/Wilson debate? Jesus you all are desperate to take a victory lap in either direction when it's nowhere near warranted.

Both guys are playing behind probably the two worst pass blocking OL's in the league.

The victory lap desperation has been one sided in this board since the draft. This is not a “very fine people on both sides” moment.

This really falls on Douglass. The oline should not be this bad. Wilson is a rookie and he needs more time in the pocket. As he grows and becomes better over the years, we can get away with a bad oline. But right now we can’t do that.

So unless the Oline drastically improves,(highly unlikely), Wilson will continue to get the shit kicked out of him and probably won't make it through the year. Even with all the picks we will have next year (probably a top 3 pick and seattles) we have JD making the picks. He has whiffed on most of his picks already (I know it's only been 2 years) Rinse, wash, repeat

I couldn't possibly disagree more, and think this is a terrible take on the situation. The only thing I agree with is that you're at a loss.

1 - We needed an LT much more than a RT
2 - How was JD overly conservative? I think that's nonsense. If he had paid Thuney QB money then Jets fans and others would have either been up in arms or laughing at him and the Jets for overpaying an OL. Ozzie Newsome was one of the great GMs in the history of the league and so was Ron Wolff, and neither would have paid crazy money to a FA. What's JD supposed to do, sink the cap to sign FAs? Hold a gun to their heads and tell FAs that if they don't sign with us he's gonna kneecap 'em? I'm sure that he also consulted with Saleh, LaFleur and Benton about whom they might want in the way of FAs. They may not have wanted any of the possibilities and thought GVR would be good in the new scheme. Of course when coaches don't do their jobs well and players don't play well, the GM gets blamed, but that often isn't realistic or fair/reasonable.
3 - Two or three lesser players don't equal one very good or great one. This was not a good draft for IOL for our scheme, and the CS obviously isn't interested in players that they don't think are ideal scheme fits.

Who was JD going to replace McGovern and GVR with? After a bad start last year (with no OTAs, minicamp or preseason), they both improved markedly and played very well the 2nd half of the season. Both were said to be good scheme fits for the new blocking scheme. Not one person in the media said that they weren't. I'm certain that JD had input from the CS in making his decision on them. I love how you and others are trashing JD, yet saying nothing about the CS and the players themselves. JD can't coach them and play for them too. McGovern was a top 10 center in the league in this offense just a couple of seasons ago with Denver.
