Temperament is important...no doubt. It's probably the only reason Sam is considered "fixable" by some.
Define “Legit”. Decent size,quick release & above average arm.It ends there for me.Have watched several games & just dont see alot of wow plays or throws. He’s not dynamic in my opinion.
I think Wilson is a stretch at #2 and the reason he is being talked up is because Jets fans desperately want to move on from Darnold. People like to say, if you don’t take a Wilson at #2, you won’t be able to get a Qb as good next year... Hmm, to that I say - If you were to look at TL and the best two Qb’s from last years draft and Wilson, how would you rank them? for me right now it’s - Hebert TL Burrow Wilson Wilson is the least desirable prospect... which for me means, he’s a reach at pick#2. Wilson is far from the perfect prospect people are making him out to be - injury concern, lack of competition, 1 year of production, does not have the ideal frame/build, average arm strength/talent (elite is Mahomes/Rodgers/Allen)
I got questions how “legit” he is.. I love his live arm and the way he carries himself. My issue is I watched the entire game against coastal Carolina and the level of competition was really bad.. also he looked lost when blitzed.. it made Fields game vs Indiana look stable..
I said a few days ago that the pre draft hype machine would have Wilson going top 10 by the draft. It seems that hype machine has hit this board much faster. Remember this is the board that saw one bad game from Fields and are now convinced he is a future bust. They see one good game from Wilson and they are sold he is a top prospect. But is he really? Lets move past the one game evaluations and observe the big picture. Due to the COVID mess BYU had their schedule reworked to include a lot of pushover teams that would struggle to beat division II teams. They had games against Michigan State, Arizona State, Missouri, and Stanford cancelled and added teams like Texas State, Lousiana Tech, Troy, and UCF. It was a total puff schedule against some really D2 defenses. So he matches Steve Young - but against far inferior opponents than Young had to face. We can take any D1 QB and give them a mostly D2 schedule, watch them play great, and then say they should go top 10 - or even at pick #2. But do you really feel good about that? Wouldn't playing against Mich State, Stanford, etc have been a much better measure of his how pro ready he was? There is not enough to say this guy warrants top 10 because he beats easy teams that any D1 team would cream. Who knows for sure though right? Maybe despite his lack of quality opponents he will be a solid NFL starter? But with the amount of evidence we have he seems closer to fools gold. Taking this kid with the first pick would be a desperation move. Do we really want to pick out next first round QB out of desperation? I don't.
You can watch all the college film you want, but outside of true gems like Luck or Trevor, you got a bunch of 'maybes'. So this draft we have about 5 maybes. Any one of them could be good with the right system, any one of them could fizzle out in a few years. If JD was smart, he'd put all the 'maybe' QBs in a bucket and then start trading down, picking up valuable draft ammo, then drafting one of the 'maybes' a bit later in the draft. Unless he's all in on Sam/Morgan.
Wind up falls under delivery for me which is a seperate category & is almost always given benefit of the doubt as most need tinkering when they enter the NFL. . He can launch the ball w velocity out of his hands very quickly.
Wilson is a very sensitive dude in the mold of Carson Wentz. He doesn’t seem to take Criticism very lightly ( ex his Twitter argument with a fan) Very talented QB though but mental makeup may not be a good fit in New York. I have doubts he could handle the big market. He could thrive in a smaller market though

So one of the reasons people are saying the Jets will move on from Darnold is his contract, which will make the Jets pay big money in the next 2 seasons. Call me naive, but if a new coach wants to keep Darnold, is it realistic that Darnold would re-negotiate with the Jets to make his contract more affordable? Darnold did say that he really likes playing for the Jets and doesn't want to leave.
Maybe take a few weeks off making threads that A. Don't generate discussion. B. Belong in a different forum or C. Is already being discussed in 1 or more other threads.
