I'd be fine with Milliner at the 9 since he's an elite talent. That's also why he won't be there. Rhodes is not.
Would not be happy with this move & it's one that scares me given Rex's love for DBs. We need to move away from so much salary dedicated to CBs & I'm not as high on Milliner as others are.
It's funny because I made this thread with just a few people mentioning it. Now, it is all over the news. Are the Jets going to select Milliner at #9? LOL
Wouldn't this lead to similar problems we're having now? Spending too much on corners? Milliner obviously wouldn't be making Revis money but wouldn't the money (and pick) be better served going to some other position?
With the Draft im very anxious to see the first couple of picks because that will shape the draft up to our pick. Though unlikely KC could opt out of the #1 spot and move back to grab another player on their board being that there is no franchise QB here. They have Joeckel as their pick but they could move back and take Fischer. If Milliner is there at out pick then that might be our guy for the simple fact that Rex likes press coverage and if our DBs can hold players down that creates sacks ... So that might be the approach or we can go with Vaccaro and have our Safeties locked down. But we can grab Jordan if he is around or Warmack. There is a ton of options and Id be happy with who we get
We need to lock down a good safety. So id rather draft Kenny Vaccaro at 13. This takes some pressure off the DBs after trading Revis. We need to find that franchise safety that we've been looking for.
Mcshay gave Milliner to the jets in his latest mock draft. We'll see a whole host of name going to the Jets in the next 2 weeks. The draft can't come soon enough.
This is exactly where I'm at. We have room for improvement at just about every position on both sides of the ball. Perfect year to take straight BPA. Milliner lasting to 9 is unlikely, but if he's there he'd almost definitely be the BPA. I wouldn't mind Star either, certainly would like Jordan, and wouldn't be upset with an OG. Only position i'd potentially reach a little on is QB if the Jets have any with a first round grade. Otherwise straight up BPA for me.
Star too would be a great addition if he can play like a Kris Jenkins or Ngata for us. Not asking him to make to many tackles but be disruptive and get in the backfield , change the direction of a play or just hold up two defenders. Because imagine Coples, Wilkerson, Star , Garay, Ellis, and more in a rotation... It will make life easy for any LB that we insert. But BPA is the way to go and I cant see how that approach will fail you. Hope Idzik and Rex can get us a A+ draft this year. If we get that Tampa pick we will be golden and Ill actually be excited to watch football this season.
This is awful for the simple fact the Milliner will be forever compared to Revis if this happens...now from all accounts this kid is going to be good, but doubt anyone benefits from that burden
I would like to see us get Milliner if we trade the cyborg WR stopping machine known as Darrelle Revis. Rex can create so many schemes with 2 shutdown CB's, the like of which we haven't even really got to see without the full effect of a pass rush or even just a real solid D-line. I personally just want to see what our D can do with our CB's playing shutdown D and Wilk and Coples setting a hard edge. Now with Landry version 2.0 in the mix we just need a pass rushing OLB (I know we have Barnes and I hope he's that guy) and we should see a nasty D this year.
You did! Now smart guy, where's your post about wanting to draft a DT in the later rounds with the express purpose of converting him to a Guard? :breakdance:
LMAO Hey, I LOVED our draft, but I had the biggest feeling we were gonna take Milliner. It's funny reading all the comments on here saying he will never fall to us at 9 and that would be terrible if we took him at 9 haha
