No, I said we wouldn't be in cap hell as you suggested. There's a big difference between being in "cap hell" and not being able to sign big name FA's. Tanny will fix it up so we can sign a couple of guys (not top FA's), and hopefully Leon is the first one he deals with. Didn't I tell you Pennington would suck horse cocks against a top defense last week? I remember, you told me you had a good shot at winning. Well, at least you have a great new owner.
dumping the $13 gets us under the cap really does not free up room. We have to make changes to get any space so dumping favre does put $13 mil on the other side of the ledger but really just brings us from a good bit above the cap to a bit below it. What we can hope is that the increase in cap space expected this year exceeds what they are predicting.
If we dump all the deadwood we have on the team we would have gads of money to sign him or any other high priced UFA
If we cut all of the players you want us to cut, we'll have so much dead money on the cap that we won't even be able to field a complete team.
If that's true, about the 13million in space, that's great. Signing a veteran QB will be first on our list, i'm sure. I would love Garcia.
Nah there are so many players available albeit maybe not with much talent but they are players so we would be able to field a team. In fact using my theory we would be so many dollars under the cap that Woody would be smiling all the way to the bank
Clearly he wasn't. No one here even likes Lowery... he was awful this year. Then again, your whole damn team was awful and you still won't admit it. Asomougha won't be a Raider next year and before you get all up in my grill no I am not implying he is coming to NYJ.
The Jets will have money to play with this off season. Last off season they filled major holes and this off season I expect maybe one major signing at corner or safety but not for big money. Part of the problem the Jets are going to face is having too much money locked up in certain positions. They have a tremendous amount of money locked up in the offensive line and the outside linebackers. Not to mention that Mangold is going to need a new contract soon. The best contract was getting Revis locked up for 6 years. To have a top of the line pro bowl cornerback at a decent price for 6 years was brilliant.
I don't mind all the money tied up in the offensive line because I think it was worth it and we obviously improved tremendously. Having committed as much as we have to Thomas, Pace and Gholston however is going to be a tremendous handicap.
I'm fine with the offense line but they need to start drafting offensive lineman mid rounds and develop them so they don't have to sign other teams free agents. Thomas contract isn't that bad but Gholston got just a horrible contract. Top 10 picks are horrible for your salary cap. They have a good amount of money invested in Rhodes and Revis. They don't need to have another big contract in the secondary.
Uh,oh. It's that time of year again. The Raiders finish another pathetic and subpar season...so it's time for jets bashing and ridiculous Raider predictions. The Idiot is back chanting his mystical triangle numbers that fluff up raider UDFA's and bash mid round Jet picks. You really think you're so high and mighty by pouncing on a 4th round pick? Get real.
Im pretty sure that, the deal turns into a 4 year contract if he hits playing % of snaps escalators. Im also pretty sure that being the #1 clear cut corner and probowl player he is, he hit those escalators making the deal a 4 year contract, and him being a fa in 2 years
I remember wanting the Jets to draft Bartell when he came out. I would be happy if we picked him up as well.
"It's the most wonderful time of the year..." I think he feels the need to rip Lowery because Branch did nothing, especially the 2nd Half of the season, and the Jets were statistically ranked better in Rushing than the Raiders, with Jones as the leading rusher in the AFC; one of the few things Jeaux prided the team on this past Offseason. Oh yeah, that, and the fact that Russel sucks.
Again don't let facts get in the way of your post. 1 Reason Branch didn't nothing in second half was because he was on IR. Now Jets maybe were better statistical better than the Raiders in the running game but IF Raiders running backs were healthy, Jets had no chance to be better than Raiders. You think if Mcfadden didn't get a bad case of turf in week two that hindered him all season.(had very limited carriers the rest of the way ) Jets wouldn't even in the same ball park as the raiders. Branch has a very bright future and dosen't have the same limitations as Lowery( speed challenged) Smart Money on branch having the better career. Lets see Mcfadden, Fargas and Bush triumph your Rb corps(not even close) . Again you want to put a little money which Running game is better next year. Mcfadden would have been OROY if he didn't get hurt. Enjoy your one year sucess that is the last time yhou come anywhere close to the Raiders.; Jamarcus Russell had better QB Rating than both Eli manning and Peyton Manning in his first 16 games startring. Once Raiders get that Oline fix you will see just how good Russell is. Raiders might have found their left tackle Mario Henderson. Henderson shutout both R Seymour ,Mario Williams and Gaines adams. (not Bad) Lets see Oline of Mario Henderson 6'7 305 , R gallery 6'7 325(Should have made probowl over Faneca) C J Grove 6'4 305 RG Kwame harris 6'7 325 (struggled at LT but like Gallery gives Raiders another very athlethic guard. RT Michael Oher 6'5 315-325 Raiders put that oline out there and nobody stopping their running or passing game.
