I disagree. FA's looking at the Jets may ignore the media, but what they will not ignore is the apparent opinion of players already on the team about where the team will likely go from here.

The locker room dissension was mostly about differing attitudes about Mark Sanchez. And if you accept that at least some players have lost faith in Sanchez, why would you think they were probably wrong to think so?

And if you think they are probably right to think so, that affects the Jets' prospects going forward. Adversely. Why would you want to become part of that?

Again, only if the Jets pay you a significant premium or there is nowhere else for you to go.

I hope the answer is no because I want them to sign a bunch of good players. We already have stars on the team we need players who fill a role and fill that role well. Ie pass rusher, right tackle, wide out and safety. Build the team through lots of good players not few great players and few awful players.

Outside of Revis and Mangold, who are the other "stars" on the Jets roster?

True. But outside of Brady(who is obviously the most important) and Gronk the Patriots roster is pretty weak as well.

Solid players, but hardly NFL stars.

That's the beauty of NFL parity - almost no team has more than a couple of "stars" on it.

Wilfork had another great year, outside of those 3, and possibly Welker, I agree with you.

Cromartie is a "star" with his 9 baby mommas. That's it.

He's shitty in alot of coverage schemes against certain types of receivers and can't tackle for shit. Plus, he's known to draw about 4 bonehead penalty flags a game.

    Still a star?

I would imagine that if money is no object as the Jets are a bit hamstrung by their contract situation, the perception of the franchise will be the determining factor in any FA's decision making. It will come down to the "best chance to win" and in some cases, stability of the franchise will also be a major factor. As the Jet Franchise now is viewed as being in disarray regarding the lockerroom and leadership on the field and sidelines, I'm not real sure that even if the Jets could afford an "A List" FA, they would want to come join the circus that is the Jets and the TriState media. A guy like Peyton Manning certainly would be concerned with that along with his legacy. There will be paladins that will sign for the money, do a year or two and then move on but difference makers? I dunno.

Interesting point and I hope the Jets do land Orton. I know he's nothing to get overly excited about but I think he's certainly capable of performing better than Sanchez did last year.

At the end of the day, a lot of players would want to be the guy that brings the Jets a championship, because they realize the fame, money and glory for life that would bring them.

You're right. Is Buffalo the most attractive destination? No, but it evidently wasn't a deterrent to them signing Brad Smith who was coming off 2 straight trips to the AFCCG.

It's all about selling. Selling the notion that we're "almost there" and "you're the missing link for us to win a SB," etc., etc.

If Tanny can pull off bringing in one or two sorely needed positions while keeping the nucleus of what we have, we have a chance. Then it's "Hey, look who we've got and you're the final icing on the cake."

But yeah, there are doubts with the QB position, so this is a challenge for offense players. A guy with Plaxico's height and talent, for example, should have flourished almost as well as he did under Eli, but didn't. Yeah, I know he's older and a step slower, but still...

Eli has been able to make damn good use of Manningham and Nicks and Cruz and that combination shows what you can do and also breeds confidence in everyone. But what about Sanchez? Tough sell there because the jury is still out.

As far as 8-8, we all need to raise the bar. Yeah, we coulda, woulda, shoulda been 9-7 or 10-6 but enough already. The expectations for this year were piled on the fans to such a degree that it was over the top, and now we're feeling the hangover.

We force him to play at a higher level than 95% of corners. Theres a reason we paid him so much,we ask him to go toe toe toe with guys with no safety help. Hell our team has no safeties, and a futile pass rush

I had not realized until today that you didn't watch the Jets much this past season. Not that i was actively tracking you or anything, but Cromartie played very well as the season went on. Just thought I would let you know.

Bullshit- he's never been a premier or star CB- he's extremely overvalued by some fans and the franchise.

He was the "best option" available at the time, partly because we missed out on a more viable option (the name escapes me) for less money, because we were so focused on landing Aso.
