Any team that takes him on would only be on the hook for $1M for the remainder of the season, then if they kept him he would be due $4.75M next season, but they could jettison him at any point after the season with no cap hit. For a team on the cusp of the playoffs needing a back up O lineman, it might be worth it to a team to give up a 6th-7th rounder for a 1/2 season rental. Have to remember any team in the playoffs, the picks will be late round so not like a team would be giving up an early 6th.
I'm a glass half full type of guy, unless we are talking beer, then that glass better be all the way full.
FJF ,I had a brain fart , did not mean to post what you already wrote, I'm a boob ,,,lol ps get in the weather thread my friend !!!
I'm curious what Mac has said or done that makes you think he'd trade Hack or Lee. Mac has not shown that he gives up on players quickly or is quick to call a draft pick he made a "mistake." He loved Hack when he drafted him, and Hack was clearly being shown deferential treatment this year during TC, and that wouldn't happen unless Mac still clearly liked Hack and believed in him. I have seen nothing that says that Mac would be willing to deal Hack. With Lee, it's a matter of Lee not being used properly or put in a position to succeed. That's all on Bowles, and Bowles isn't likely to be back next year. Mac knows that with a new HC, DC, and defensive system, Lee could still be a dynamic playmaker. In all likelihood, Mac wouldn't be able to get anywhere near value for Lee. He'd probably be lucky to get a 3rd pick, and probably wouldn't get that based on production in Bowle's system. Why trade him just to get a pick, especially one that is lower than he used to get him, and create another hole? I don't mean any offense, and I could certainly be wrong, but unless I've missed something big (an that is possible), it seems to me that you're projecting your views on Hack and Lee and what you would do, rather than what Mac would actually do.
I'm hoping that they're not even considering dealing Carpenter. He isn't even all that, and I'm certain that Dozier is not as good. I don't want any of our QBs getting killed this season, and don't want to create another hole for next season.
I definitely agree with those 4 players and your general premise. Some posters have the Jets trading players that would just create additional holes next season, and that makes no sense to me. Claiborne I could see. He would have some value, and may not be in their long-term plans due to his injury history. He seems happy to be here, however, and has been good, so he could definitely be in their long-term plans. He would certainly fill a long-term need at CB, but could bring such a good pick that it would be hard to refuse the offer. Also, trading him would help cement the tank this season. LOL Forté, I would gladly trade, but doubt there'd be any teams interested in him at this point in his career.
If the Jets got blown away with a trade offer, and Bowles was assured of coming back next season, I could see the Jets trading Lee. Otherwise, I just can't see trading a player with his talent/ability. IMO we're not likely to get offered a very high pick in exchange for Lee. With a different HC, more than likely, we'd be playing a different D alignment and Lee could be utilized properly and put in a position to succeed.
