Id love it if he decided to rework his contract to help the team, esp if it was in a manner where he gets more money up front , less per year and spread out over a longer term (thus more total, more via bonuses, but a lower avg per year)

I mean with this guy possibly needing shoulder surgery (not even counting that he might need another knee one as well), and the fact that he has somewhat subpar numbers I think an extension with a greater total sum but lower per year salary proves to be in both his best interest and the teams.

Not to mention itll benefit him far more ($$$ wise in the long haul) if he gets to keep his two best receivers.

I mean realistically the guy has what another 12-15 years in the nfl. So if he gets to have Braylon/Cotch/Holmes for the next 5-6 years his numbers could end up looking good enough to get him a monster brady/peyton type payday down the road.

From 2444 yards, he jumped to 3291 yards. From 12 TDs, he jumped to 17 TDs. From 20 picks, he limited them to 13 picks. And from 3 fumbles lost, he also limited that to 1. All this from year 1 headed in to year 2.

What makes u think he still might be a dud?

Tanny could always pitch it this way

"Mark, how many rings do you want to win?"

    "As many as I can"

"We need more money to sign the best guys to give you and the Jets, the best chance to do do. "

    "What can I do?"

"We are going to decrease you average salary to $8.5 million per year, but extend you through 2015, in the end you make more money, get press for helping the team so we can win, and then we go get the best, so you can win."

Sanchez seems like the type to take a little less if ti means keeping his main guys. i'm sure he'll take a few million less to ensure he has keller, BE, holmes, and j-co to throw to for the next 4 years.

restructuring is good if it allows the jets to keep edwards, cro, holmes, and harris.

Sanchez's should is being held together by 2 rubberbands and joesmoe's thong, the Jets should cut him now.

In 3 years Sanchez will just be the second coming of Pennington. After all Chad's shoulder just started as a cartilage tear also..........this franchise is doomed, just doomed.

It's not HOW MUCH he makes (he won't take a pay-cut to win... Kurt Wanrer did that but in the final year of his career) but HOW he makes it.

There are lot's of ways (upfront money, guaranteed money, extra years, options) where a re-worked deal can benefit both Sanchez and the Jets without asking El Sancho to take one for the team.

That said if he also agrees to lower his salary to keep his WRs all the better!

Mmm... would you characterize this situation as a TRAP!?
