Well the team under Rex is probably more relevant than the team's history prior against rookie QBs. I would be a little more concerned than usual because our secondary is weak and maybe not healthy, but overall I think Rex has enough to confuse Carr and make him look like a rookie
But don't you think it's irrelevant how bad we were against rookie and first time starting QB's in the past? Since Rex has gotten here, rookie QBs have been abused by our D. Let the past go.
Read the first sentence and stopped. "We" are not the cowboys. THEY make rookies look great..were the complete opposite. Ask Mr. Luck.
You're right. It wasn't so much because of something that happened under Al Groh, Herm and Mangini, although that was part of it. I guess I was thinking that because of the issues at QB this would tie in with past history. I guess I still have more of the "SOJ" attitude and cynicism than I thought. Sorry for creating a stinker thread.
My apologies to all for this lame thread. I don't know what I was thinking at the time I created the thread. I know that this is a different team, different CS, and what happened under Groh, Herm and Mangini has no bearing on what happens now with the team. Guess I still have more cynical distrust or a sense that the team is somehow cursed than I thought. I know that the team has done much better versus rookie QBs under Rex. I guess with the CB questions we have, I just had some fears that Carr would light it up and we could lose a game we should win. At any rate. Sorry all for the waste of bandwidth. Thanks for setting me straight.
We should all learn from this honorable post. If everybody, myself included, could just come clean after posting something emotionally erratic instead of vainly defending it to the death, this board will be a better place. Honorable indeed.
This is inaccurate. It's the opposite. The Jets under Rex Ryan have actually dominated rookie QBs regularly.
No sir. I generally start from the beginning and read as I go, responding to ones I feel deserve a response. My apologies. I appreciate you taking the time to point it out.
As an aside, how quickly has Matt Schaub fallen off the face of the earth. A few years ago he was one of the better QBs in the league. The fact that Carr (clearly their future) is starting AFTER he suffered a concussion and a rib injury and missed the third and most important preseason game is telling. Carr must have missed at least a week of practice, but 3 weeks later he's starting over Schaub? Schaub must have looked terrible. AND they traded for him to be their starter. Ooof. _
Yep. That's why I'd much rather the Jets be facing Schaub. Carr has talent. I expect and hope Rex to do his usual job of pressuring/confusing rookie QBs, and Geno and the offense to put up a pretty good number of points in this game and it still to be a fairly easy win, but it would have been a cakewalk with Schaub as the starter.
