Will the Jets draft a QB like they did 30 years ago?

I think the Jets would benefit greatly to draft a QB in the later rounds with the expectation of finding a hidden gem. If we strike gold much the better, if not we move on and draft one next year. As a matter of course we should, every couple of years draft a high risk/rewards QB.
If Sanchez really bombs this year then net year might be a do or die for a high daft pick QB, and that presents nothing but challenges if we finish 7-9 or 8-8 unless we trade up.

Why? You seem so opinionated, so what based on tape has caused you to feel this way? You dont think ANYONE in this class will turn into a franchise QB?

There's always next year though, right?!

The jets will take EJ Manual. Either at 13 or a trade back.

I said Smith is the only one as of right now that I would say has the capability to become one. But I don't see it from the others. I have watched a ton of games and a ton of tape as this is one of my favorite times of the year cause I like to do mocks and can't wait till draft day. It's just what I see from them that I say this.

And yes I think we should wait for 2014 when the better QB class will come out.

Wait for 2014. Trade back the 13 pick for a conditional 1st for next year. This will give the Jets 2 1st rounders next year and the chance to package and move up next year if necessary.

I don't think this team is gonna lose more than 10 next year so we will be picking around the same - 9th or lower. Better to have the extra 1st pick next year.

They won't have to move up if they don't take a QB this year..they will already be at the top.

Agreed! We need to wait and get a real QB, and start over. We will be lucky to have any QBs from this year still on the roster come game one of 2014.

First lets get the nonsense out of the way.
    1. Jets will not purposely tank the season. So they won't have 1st or 2nd picks next season.
    2. Only teams that have shitty QBs end up in 1 or 2. Those teams will not trade down their pick regardless of the package offered. So Jets will not be trading up to 1 or 2 either.

What I would do is collect late rounds QBs. 2 this year and 1 next or visa versa. Accumulate QBs, and see if one of them turns out to be good. If not, continue drafting.

I hope to God they don't take a QB in this draft, unless it's remarkable value, aka Geno Smith with a third. Even then I think it'll be a wasted pick.

Thats a hell of a lot easier said than done. Not many teams that a linked to wanting to trade up look to be willing to give up a next years 1st (Vikings/49ers). Everyone says "trade down and get more picks", but that is said EVERY year. Its just not as realistic as it sounds.

Exactly. It's much better to wait for Bridewater or Manziel next year with the No. 1 or No 2 overall.

For now just start in the trenches and build out from there.

I hope we finally learn there lesson and dont pick a QB way too higher then they should be picked unless they really think they are the guy. I dont think that guy is in this draft

You people do realize that about 65-75% of NFL teams have first round picks as starting QBs. Finding a QB in round 2, let alone round 3 or later, is not common or easy. And there is no guarantee that a QB the Jets want will be available whenever the Jets pick in the first round next year.
