Vince McMahon probably sees money in this. Headlining next year's Wrestlemania Rock vs Smith in the celebrity feud of the century.
I don't think it was staged. The reason I say that is why would anyone want to willfully (heh) take a hit (heh) to their career like that. Chris Rock is very successful and has nothing at stake or to be gained by this. Will Smith apologized to the 'Academy' during his Luca Brasi on the day your daughter is to be married speech, but he did not apologize for anything else, least of all to Chris Rock.
He did bumrush the stage. Pretty much what I got out of it was I challenge you to a duel without the brick.
Maybe if Will Smith had improved his acting instead of waiting for Oscars to be handed to him, it would be more believable.
I get your bs radar but I'm still not going the staged route. Like I said there was nothing to be gained for Will Smith or Chris Rock here. Btw, I still shave my head with a #1 Wahl.
I'm still trying to understand why a joke about Jada rated a nationally televised slap but the guy who publicly came out and said he was railing Jada (and she acknowledges this) gets a pass..?? Not tracking this at all..
that probably added to it. Smith was humiliated by that and was looking for an opportunity to do something like this
I still want to see a different angle. Or maybe a full stop-video breakdown by some interweb supersleuth. No matter how many times I watch, it still kinda looks like one of those fakey Hollywood swings.
I’m a 1 myself, used to be a 2, however eye sight isn’t what it used to be and I put on the wrong guard.
The problem with that position is that this was not a situation in which a woman was harassed and needed to be defended. This is an event where every attendee knows, and inherently accepts the risk, that by being there they can potentially be the butt of a joke. Don't want to be a butt of a joke, don't attend the event. The type of self-absorbed entitlement (no shock a celebrity would have that) it takes to believe that everyone else in the audience but you can be the target of a joke but you (or the person you love) are so special that you should be excluded, is astounding and I don't see how it can be rationally defended. Will Smith was more than willing to laugh at jokes targeting everyone else at the event; he has no ground to take offense when his wife is the butt of a joke. The hypocrisy of such is clear as day.
