Inept is leading your team to under 20 points on OFFENSE...win or lose. QBs are judged by wins and points, not completion percentage. Chad has only managed to compile both of those against the worst team in the league. If he had been consistently winning this season (like in the past) his ineptness or how many points the O scored would be somewhat overlooked. You can't do that as the losses pile up and one win ain't going to make a difference (unless he shows he can lead the offense to some points)
It will be disappointing to me wasting time with Chad at Qb no matter what we do. If you want to hold on to the pipe dream of going 9-2 the rest of the way with games left v.s. Ne, Dallas, Pitt, CIncy, Tenn, Was and even Cleveland! The Bills beat us once and feel they can do it again and Miami really wishes they could have that game against us back as well. I want to win a superbowl and every game that Chad stays in puts us behind schedule in doing that. I want Clemens to come in and win the game. If we finish 7-9 we will having this same argument next year when we are mediocre again. Do you really think we have what it takes to compete with the big boys? Do you think Chad will be around when we do? This was his win or bust year and it has been a bust so it is time for him to go. What if Clemens is a bum? When do we find out next year after Chad is gone. SO that means we have to draft another Qb and waste another three years grooming him?
cs is dumb the change shouldve been made by now. just cuz people get paid to do this job doesnt mean they should have it.
And for other teams the would of aready made the change, but for some f@#$ reason the Jets are more worried about hurting feelings then winning.
How about this for a theory? Chad has been the damage control that enabled successive administrations to preside over general talent reductions without being held fully accountable. Bradway and Herm might still be in town if Chad had not gotten hurt in 2005 and lead the Jets to 8-8 or 9-7. Mangini saw the 10-6 last season and knew there was not that much talent on the roster, schedule or no. Tannenbaum essentially got a bye for several really poor trades and free agent signings (Barlow, Ramsey, KVO and Dwight, etc.) So maybe Mangini and Tannenbaum see Chad as the ONLY thing that can get this roster moving away from 4-12 (as it went in 2005 in his absence) and the accompanying full accountability that Woody will likely enforce if that happens. That would explain why they are clinging to Chad like a baby monkey to its mother.
The media, not me you moron... He knows what people say... Watch one of his press conferences, he recognizes the criticism, and if you pay attention when you watch the games, often times his play directly correlates with what people have been saying about it....
It really is depressing to think about, isn't it? I think that's why I usually get just rocked by a lot of Jets fans when I come out and say this stuff....
Mangini will not pull him out until it’s officially over! I don’t even think he would do it if Chad had two picks already before the half! Just my uniformed opinion.
He knows what the media asks him, yes that is true. But how much of the criticism he sits around reading you don't really know. And it is moronic to think he comes out and performs based on criticism. At least that which is not his own or that of the coaching staff. Show me a player that doesn't try to come out the next week after having a shitty game and try to do better... try to make up for the last week. He won't be a player suiting up week after week in most cases. Of course Pennington comes out the next week and tries to have a better game. Because he had to look at the game film of himself throwing 1-2-3 picks the week before. I give him and the rest of the team the benefit of the doubt that they are doing their best to win each week. I say that simply because not wanting to win and still show up to play just seems a bit ridiculous to me. If that makes me blindly loyal so be it. I'm just as realistic as the next so called "realist" on this board. Our opinions just differ is all.
The people who support Chad say it's because the CS realizes Chad is better than Clemens but the CS is a moron for not going to a 4/3. The people who see Chad as a QB with no arm and bad decision making think the CS is a moron for not replacing him with Clemens. Here's an idea, the team is rebuilding and isn't that good. The CS in every single case except QB has made every single player earn his start. In the case of the QB he was given the job prior to TC, the only player who didn't have to compete for a job. If I was to speculate on why that was, I would speculate that Chad was given the job not based on talent, not based on his ability to win but probably based on a pre planed program on how they wanted to handle Clemens. Chad got the job because the CS didn't want to start Clemens, didn't want to put that pressure on him and might want to see him in games without the pressure of being the man. We have all seen rookie QB's show a flash when they come in for a starter but that is an entirely different scenario than being the leader of a pro football team. Cutler and Leinart self destructed this year after flashes last year. Carson Palmer as rookie ready to start in this league from day one sat behind a complete journeyman QB in Kitna for a full year. Clemens missed most of his senior year in College, he sat all last year, he got a start for an injured QB and did well knowing he wasn't going to be the leader of the team. They are going to ease him in and they have a plan on how to do it and are sticking to it. The idea that this is about public pressure or Chad given the team the best chance to win or anything else is just rumor mongering and half truth. This is all about how Mangini and Shot want to bring Clemens along on a team that is being rebuilt on both sides of the ball.
Name a QB that won a Super Bowl with the team that drafted him after sitting on the bench for two full seasons? I can't find one.
Which means what? Bradshaw and Young are two HOF QB's who almost played themselves out of the league in their first couple of seasons. Plunkett was a guy who was left for spare parts by the Pats before he sat on the bench for a couple of years healed up and led the Raiders to two SB. Doug Williams, one of the most talented players to ever play in the NFL had a crappy career because he was wrecked by the way he was brought into the league. It took a very patient Joe Gibbs at the end of his career to resurrect him for a SB run. Just an FYI Craig Morton took the majority of the QB snaps in Dallas in Staubach first two years in Dallas and anyone who saw Staubach play can make a very strong argument that he was the best QB in the history of this league.
Clemens won't win a Super Bowl with the Jets if he is not the established starter or at least co-starter (Terry Bradshaw and Terry Hanratty for Steelers) by the end of the season. He may win a Super Bowl for somebody else in a half dozen years but he won't win one for the Jets. That's just what NFL history suggests, and the past is the best predictor of the future.
I guess you missed Staubach who didn't start until 71 and Morton started that season which was Staubach's 3rd NFL season, he was a rookie in 69. You might want to look up Ken Stabler who I don't think started in Oakland until year 4 so now we have at least two great QB one in the HOF and one who should be both with SB with their original teams both who didn't start in year 2.
