If the team is revolting against the GM/HC it becomes much easier to part ways, even after 2 years. So in a sense, the team casts the deciding vote. We've heard a few bad comments, very few, about which QB should start. But for a 2-9 team, the locker room has been very quiet. If anything, to a player they still come out publicly and support Rex Ryan.

Within 5 minutes of firing Rex, Idzik will lose the locker room. It will be a VERY up hill battle.

Here is the way I see it. When you decide to fire or not fire someone, demonstrated performance or lack of , is one important factor but not the only one. Perception in this business is thruth, and often more powerful that the facts.
If the general consensus around the NFL is that there is a problem with the Jets that goes way deeper than the HC then action has to be taken swiftly by the owner.
Even if the GM optically appears to have lost the respect of the lockeroom, and of his peers, or more importantly of the very key assets we are trying to attract then the owner needs to make the change now. No matter how good a captain is, once you loose the respect and support of the crew you are done.

The real question in my view is simply this. Is Idzik and asset or a detriment in bringing in respectability, talented players, and above all a no nonsense top of the line coach than can make us a contender to be proud of? Is he a liability more than a forcing function? Do top of the line coaches want to join forces with this GM or are we, by keeping Idzik, narrowing the list of contenders to the bottom of the pack.
We better have those answers ready and in your back pocket Woody, because if the top choices don't want to come here, we are doomed from the start unless we fix the real problem. NOW.
You can use Rex as a whipping boy all you want, but that might not fix diddly shit if we are not careful.

THIS... You know this is going to happen and there's no two ways about it. For this fact alone he needs to go along with Ryan. End of story. End of ballgame. That may not appear to matter to the people like the fan but he can't replace the entire locker room there is no way he can replace all 53 players he can only replace so many when the revolt against it will begin in full force and that will be the end of him.

I'm not comparing the 2. Yes he missed 2 games but he was hamper by the hamstring. If I'm not mistaken Decker came out of the game for good 2 or 3 games during his hamstring problems. Not counting when he first hurt it. Ok go get another QB and keep all the wideouts we have and see how he does. If anybody thinks the Jets WR's we have really that good is in for some more headaches.

I agree with cleaning house...and that includes a lot of the veteran players on this team that bring no value on the field and obviously no leadership off it.

How many more weapons will it take before some of you realize that Geno is hot garbage?

The guy won't even be able to get a backup job after he's gone, he's in a league of his own when it comes to being awful.

Who are the 10 QBs destroying the league?

Rodgers, P. Manning, Brady we all had no shot at last offseason.

Rivers, Big Ben, Luck, Brees, Romo we had no shot at last offseason.

Those are probably the only QBs who can be argued to be "destroying: the league.

I think he's talking about WR. In a year when a very high percentage of rookie WRs are contributing to their teams, he drafted 3 that have done nothing or, in the case of Shaq Evans and like the many Idzik draft picks looked horrible (before he got hurt).

Most of us were pretty confident with Geno heading into the season... sure it is now but heading into the draft it wasn't

    Ohhhhhh my bad.

I thought QB. We still ended up with Decker and Harvin heading into next year so I'm not too upset about WR

Oh that's the other thing that worries me. If the new GM doesn't like Harvin or something we might have wasted that trade away instead of Idzik who seems interested in keeping Harvin. I really like Harvin and think he's a dynamic player.
