And all were better running backs than Curtis even though Curtis had more over all yards. I think the 3 behind him being better than Curtis is why it's an interesting argument.

I would vote for Faulk and Davis ahead of Curtis both of whom I thought were better and were the key guys on SB winning teams. In fact I would make the arguement that if Martz wasn't such an ass and actually ran Faulk against the Pats he would have two rings. I would vote for Curtis ahead of Bettis. Interesting argument.

The #1 thing about Curtis was his consistancy. Leading the league in rushing at the age of 31 showed how consistant he really was. At an age most rushers get worse (LT), Martin got better. Hall of Famer.

I'm a firm believer that Martin deserves the HOF. For whatever reason the first ballot is usually reserved for those slam dunk guys that just stood out. I don't see Curtis in the same light as Jim Brown, Walter Payton and some of the other all time greats. Curtis compiled all time great stats by being very good for a long time. He deserves to be in the HOF but he wasn't Jim Brown or Walter Payton or even close to Emmit Smith.

interesting take winston, i had voted for him to be a first timer but i am reading the posts and i have to agree with you. he was great but he wasnt jim brown great, walter payton great, barry sanders great...

but really isnt the hall of fame really about just those guys the greats of the greats the guys who REALLY stood out over and above everyone else. i guess the idea of the hall of fame is a little watered down these days.

Of course it's watered down if you just took the guys who made your eyes bug out you could rent a safe deposit box you wouldn't need a building.

Terrell Davis who I think was an all time great back, a guy who outright carried his team to two SB's didn't even make the finalist cut. The other guy who didn't make the finalist cut who I think should be a slam dunk HOF is Ray Guy.

Some would argue that Upchurch was better than Guy. I don't think they will ever vote a punter into the hall, so pretty much a moot point.
