I think I have to agree. I think he'll be in the mix but ultimately end up as the #3 this season, but I really like the kid's potential and after a few years of getting used to NFL speed I think we'll be hearing a lot more of him.

Ainge will probably never start in the NFL.

Bruce Gradkowski, Brooks Bollinger, Troy Smith and Shaun Hill to name a few.

    It's always possible.

I don't know whether to laugh or hang myself. I guess I'll go with the lesser of the two evils. Where's that rope... ;)

What Ainge needs to do in 2008 is work his ass off to learn the playbook, pick the brains of the veterans on both O and D to pick up as much about the pro game as possible, refine his technique, and hit the weight room to add a little more meat to his frame and improve his durability.

Then, if Clemens fails to impress this season, Ainge can get some serious consideration for the job in 2009...

NO, this year should be for Ainge to bulk up and learn the system. If Clemens fails to impress, or god forbid Penny gets the job in 08, then in 09 we will be in the same spot with Clemens and Ainge.

Wow..I read that and think to myself. If any of that is true why was Clemens ever in a million years allowed to compete for the job his first year? Certainly Ainge comes from a much tougher conference and from a team that knows more about pro sets then you will ever find anywhere in Oregon.

^ Although there was a 'competition' in Clemens rookie year, there was a miniscule chance that he would be given the job....

The CS had no idea coming in if Chad would be able to play again... But it seems to me that it was pretty much decided off the bat that if Pennington was halfway competent, he'd be the starter... And if not, it was going to Ramsey....

    I second that sentiment.

Ainge is in a good place because of Penny and Clemens as the 1/2 punch he can sit back and learn and bide his time. He does NOT need to be thrown into the situation at this time.

I think NYJ2K08 is talking about Roger Clemens.

I think the question is how do you confuse the two?! Ones a pitcher, the others a QB, ones in his 40's the other in his 20's, Ones from Texas, the other from Oregon, I have no Idea how Roger came into this...

That's true. The thing is he came out of that competition as number 2 and Ramsey was number 3. It was only half way through the season that Clemens was demoted to the number 3 spot. In my mind at least that ended any chance he will ever have to be the Jets long term solution as long as Mangini and Tannenbaum are here.

Ainge has a really good shot to start the second half of the final preseason game.

It just amazes me that this guy could be considered a top ten pick since last year put up stats this year and fall so far because of release issues. And he is a classic pocket passer to top it off.

:metal: The man has it right. Makes no difference where the guy was drafted. KC and CP have their own issues and if Ainge can beat them out so be it.
