how fucking dare you call mo a "me" first player because he won't take a pay cut on his first free-agent contract. that is literally the most ignorant thing i've seen on this board and i've seen plenty of asinine remarks why don't you take a pay cut from your job? it would definitely help the company. you're being a "me" first employee by not doing it
we are going to pretend that dware's financial position this year and peyton's financial position last year are the same as mo just finishing up his first contract? great job comparing apples to rocket ships damn it, @Dom beat me
so Tanny paying guys like Ellis, Mangold, D'brick, and Harris in their primes........that's what has been holding us back? guess teams that sign their own like Pitt and Green Bay have got it all wrong!
Mo Wilk is more comparable to Shaun Ellis, Harris, Mangold and Dbrick in both character and play. talented lunch pail guys who you build around and don't let get away. Sanchez was terrible and Holmes was a me first cancer. terrible moves you could spot a mile away......but we don't have a situation like that with Mo. Sheldon on the other hand.........might be a little risky.
Not so fast there. The Harris extensions were both controversial. He played lights out last year but many posters claimed that he is too slow to cover TEs and that he has been overpaid. Santonio Holmes helped the Steelers win a SB (he was the MVP) and was a hero for us before we gave him the extension. No one could see his true colors until afterwards. Aside from some fumbling problems the jury has been out on Sanchez since he helped us get to the AFC Championship game two years in a row. Sure he will probably amount to nothing but then again he might help Denver repeat this year. The truth is that we will not know for sure what kind of guy Mo is until AFTER he gets a big contract. God forbid the guy should try to feed his family with a lousy $15 mil per year.
Elway's also ruthless enough to cut those guys if they don't play ball. Not every GM has that kind of job security/stones.
Mo, Snacks, and Douz we lose more than play, we lose leadership. So when taking that into consideration the drop off is bigger. I just don't feel like the level of on the field drop off from that trio is significantly more then Sheldon, Leo, and Simon (I'll feel better about him after actually seeing snaps, he is the unknown). Sheldon will undoubtedly want his cash. The jets will be in a better cap situation when that decision comes around (Revis can be cut after this year without a - cap hit). Leo and Mo are similar in playing style (length, quckness, stout). Sheldon is a deferent type of player and is unique in the trio. Sooooo one of the two Mo or Leo is expendable.... And right now it's MO. He's a great player and I love what he represents to the organization on an off the field. But...he probably not going to be on this team long haul. I wish he would have signed a 5 year 12-13M deal and everybody would be happy. But the cash these linemen are getting this offseason is absurd. I don't blame Mo for wanting to maximize his earning potential. But what's the difference of 8-10M of a career? Is it worth a title or the ability to be the face of a NY based team? For Mo it looks like it is... The Revis contract is crippling this team yet again
I'd use it to sign Fitz to a max of 10M for two years. Upgrade that Line on the left and right side. Love Okung
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media is reporting that the Cardinals are re-signing TE Jermaine Gresham. Rand Getlin reports that the Jets and Bears both made Gresham strong four-year offers before he re-signed with the Cardinals on a one-year deal. Adam Schefter (via Mike Jurecki) reports that Gresham turned down offers of four-years at $23 million and $12 million fully guaranteed from other teams to be back in Arizona. Since becoming a free agent, Gresham visited with the Jets and Bears, but it appears as though he felt it was best to return to the Cardinals, rather than pursue an opportunity with another team. Gresham, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Bengals back in 2010. He spent five years in Cincinnati before he signed a one-year contract with the Cardinals last March. A knee injury actually prevented him from signing a larger contract with the Raiders, and forced him to agree to a one-year pact with Arizona. In 2015, Gresham appeared in 15 games for the Cardinals and totaled 18 receptions for 223 yards receiving and a touchdown.
We offered Gresham 4 years, a little under 6 mil per??? I'm glad he passed on the Jets if so, but why wouldn't he take that contract? Bizarre.
