it truly depends on what Mo wants. Does he want to "get paid" or does he want a team friendly deal become an iconic Jet. Looks like he wants to get paid, and that's perfectly okay. But the Jets are obviously not budging as they have placed a value to Mo based on their situation (cap, other assets on the d-line). At this point I'd be happy with 2 second round picks (one this year and another next). We get 15M in space this year and not a ton of drop off at the position
Not a ton of drop off? Snacks is gone and Richardson is probably getting suspended. I would say losing Mo would absolutely be a ton of drop off.
We don't know how the Richardson situation will play out. Could be no suspension or could be 8 games. I'm not willing to tie up 15M additionally on the line to cover our bets. Assuming Richardson gets no suspension, he an Leo with Simon or another NT wouldn't be a huge drop off. Yes Sheldons situation is fluid but again, I'm not being help hostage to that AND Moes demands.
Have the ability to force Brick into a new deal or cut him and Breno both. Whether he agrees or gets cut or stays Okung, Beachum or both can get a deal price dependent. And still have space left to move on a NT like Fairley.
I just don't understand this whole situation. He's our best player, entering his prime, our most productive player and has no known off the field problems, which you can't say for some of our other players. Unless this guy wants 20M+ or something just incredibly outrageous and won't budge, why do they not want to re-sign him?
He clearly is going to want a lot of money after the contracts that were being handed out to start fresh agency
I don't think he's our best player by any stretch of the imagination. Marshall's our best player. It's not even close. This past year Mo was better than Richardson, but previously Richardson was the better player. I think he has always wanted close to Watt money or a ton of guaranteed money, or both. With the insane contracts that have handed out during this FA period, the likelihood of that has only incrementally increased, not lessened. I think Revis is counseling him. Mac obviously doesn't think Mo is worth what Mo and his agents think he's worth. I truly hope they can trade his ass soon. I used to really like Mo, but not any more. I just want him gone.
I don't even think MO was better than Richardson. From a statistic based view, OK, but Bowles was asking Richardson to play a lot of different roles because he is the better athlete and player. MO benefited from the guys around him as well, if you look at the majority of his sacks, it wasn't MO making plays, It was MO capitalizing on plays made around him. ...or he was given a free release, which is a head scratcher, not the point though. I agree with you though and I feel like Rex really Inflated his ego while he was here, making comparisons to Watt, which is absurd because MO isn't anywhere close to being on JJ Watts level. A blind man can see that. I mean, just look at what JJ Watt did to our team last year, he did that on a consistent basis to teams all year and he almost single handedly won that game for the Texans when they played us. MO didn't have ONE game that reminded me of that kind of impact like we've seen from Watt. That is the difference between the two, so we shouldnt overpay MO because he simply isn't an impact player and he most certainly isn't on Watts level.
Ya and Revis isn't? Jets didn't waste any time dropping 70mil on a player on the downside of his career.
Martavis Bryant is facing a yearlong suspension for failing another drug test. #ThisIsWhyYouDontBankOnPlayersWithCharacterIssues #ResignMo
sorry man, but losing Mo, Snacks and Douzable would be a significant dropoff. in terms of the bold, how will you feel being held hostage by both Sheldon's situation AND Sheldon's monetary demands? that is where your path leads... my guess is he holds out next offseason in protest of the 5th year option/no long term contract. He'll feel like he has leverage too...and to some degree he will in that scenario. you have to build around something, and Mo is that something on defense. Deferring the cost will only make things more complex.
Laugh all you want. When Tanny caved in and gave out $10 mil per year extensions to everyone like they were candy our team sucked and didn't have room for any free agents. DeMarcus Ware took a pay cut to stay with the Broncos. Peyton Manning did the same for them last year. When was the last time one of our guys took a pay cut to help out this team? And you wonder why we haven't won a SB in forty years.
