Uhh is this a catch? By NFL rule I think no, since you have to maintain possession through the ground
But what if they rule forward progress was stopped, hence the clock running. Can they then rule he didn't complete the process, even though they ruled the clock is running?
either way it's lame they ran the clock if it's a catch it should stop if you land out of bounds (although apparently that's not the rule) if it's incomplete it stops the clock
Does that mean you don't need possession to the ground? The NFL made a "catch" such a complicated thing
they didn't blow the play dead as in his forward progress was stopped he caught it, was hit and landed out of bounds I think it's ridiculous to say the clock should run
It's probably incomplete, thanks to that ridiculous rule. I'm amazed that they didn't change the rule back when the Calvin Johnson TD was taken away.
Chargers have to be pleased with this first half though. I think the goal of these road playoff games as the underdog is to just extend the game into the second half and win it when you can win it. You cant win it in the first half but you can certainly lose it. The Chargers certainly have not lost the game in this first half.
Well, I'll give them credit - since forward progress was over letting go of the ball didn't matter. It still is a stupid rule.
 WTF forward progress stopped so it's a catch and he doesn't need to maintain possession? bizarre
I was swear sometimes its like they make this stuff up as they go along "forward progress was stopped"
I don't think forward progress should have been called there. That means by NFL rule, incomplete. Soo the NFL in my opinion made a mistake then had to leave it catch because of that mistake
I agree with you on all points. If I were writing the rules, that would be a catch and he went out of bounds to stop the clock. Since we're going by the NFL's rules, I think that should've been an incomplete pass. Forward progress wasn't stopped. He caught it and got knocked out of bounds. Forward progress stopped is applied to plays where a guy is struggling and four guys have a hold of him and are driving him backwards, not here.
