Tennesee IS NOT the better team............that will be proven....McFadden didn't even show up...........along with his mates
He had over 100 yard on 20 something yards with the other team knowing the ball was going to him the whole time, he did fine.
Whatever................those were after the game was won................plus i lost a c-note on the Giants!
mcfadden may not necessarily be THE answer. But then who is? is anyone in the draft THE answer? and if there isn't anyone then who makes us the best team?
The draft is 5 months away. Nobody knows when the Jets will pick. Nobody knows who will be available when the Jets pick. These three facts make this entire thread completely pointless. Besides, anybody watching the Jets this year can see that the top priority is a defensive front 7 game-changing type player - an edge pass rusher or a big nose tackle.
And anybody who follows the draft knows that there are no game changing front 7 players who fit into the 3-4, in the top 15 of this coming draft.
Adrian Peterson had a bad game vs USC in the national title game. You still want him? My apologies if he doesnt go for 200 yards every game. Players are allowed bad games arent they? Dave Harris looked bad in the bowl game versus USC, im glad we dont have him, oh wait.......
Please cut the ''We MUST TRADE DOWN~! for more picks!'' crap because lets be honest.........Teams dont want to sacrafice their entire draft for 1 guy. Very rarely do you see a trade down. The last notable one at such a high position(Not the Schuab Deal of last year), was of the Eli Manning trade and thats very rare to happen. Its a nice thought to think of trading down for more picks, everybody would but teams wont trade up and mortgage their entire draft for 1 player. Teams like DAL, ATL, DEN are going to be in the position that Jet fans were in the Bush draft.........Now think to yourself back then.....Was it really worth it to lose all of your picks(Lose Mangold, Clemens, B Smith, Leon) for 1 guy? As for Arkansas ''Sucking'', of course theyre bad. Their QB Dick is as bad as Reggie Ball of GT was, but that didnt taint Calvin Johnson from beasting, including him being the 2nd overall pick and being a help to the re surging Lions. And dont compare Run DMC to Bush, Bush had a solid O-Line led by the two Hawaiians, a young Sam Baker and Winston Justice to lead him. Add Thunder(White), the solid WR weapons of Jarrett and Smith and Leinart at QB and Bush was surrounded by talent and was in a better spot. Run DMC(McFadden) is like All Day(Peterson), 2 guys who are left on a stranded island except AP had help in his Freshman Year where as Darren never truly has. The lone GREAT talent Id say from Arkansas was Jamaal Anderson, the newest Falcon.
Your last paragraph speaks the truth. McFadden plays in the toughest conference in football and against the toughest defenses in the NCAA and produces. Bush played in the Pac 10. For example I could field a great defense of players drafted the last 5 yrs from the SEC could you even field a good one from the Pac 10 of people bush facved. that doesnt even account for the supeior talent bush had
Anyone can see that the JETS need the most help in the trenches, but a team as bad as they are need to draft the BPA, as almost every position on the team is upgradeable, especially considering the early draft slot the JETS will most likely possess. If the JETS ran a 4-3, than I could see drafting Dorsey, then Howie jr., but McFadden is the top collegiate talent, and the JETS need some talent, not to mention some envigorating energy into this franchise. Not to mention the business end of it. A top 5 pick will get top 5 $$/signing bonus, etc..... so if you have to dole out that cash, dole it out to the BPA, not just for need or you end up with more DeWayne Robertsons hmy: I know that would tie up a lot of $ in the RB position, but D-mac can split a year with T-jones (ala McPherson/Taylor) before sending Jones on his way. Jones is good/serviceable player who's not going to get better in time. If someone wants to trade the farm to go up and grab him, then you field offers and take the right one if it's there, but it would be stupid to just pass on his talent to fill "need" There are other rounds in the draft, and the JETS will be picking near the top of all of them. :martin:
I think we need to address BOTH lines....whether that means trade or whatever...that will all play out.......we really have nice skill position players- we are missing depth on BOTH lines and we are missing a strong set of middle linebackers....folks, we are closer than some of you think and I am looking forward to the next 2-3 years with this team!
Once again, Can someone please tell me why we can't draft Linemen from the second round on? Why is this even up for discussion? Why should we draft a linemen with a top ten pick for the sake of drafting one if there is a higher rated player at another position. Why should we use a premium pick if the guys in the top ten do not fit Mangini's scheme?
not to mention, why can't we sign anyone in FA? i'm really of the opinion that the FO will realize they fucked up this past Offseason and will sign a couple of solid starters, one along the OL. then draft one more early on (Rnds 2 or 3), and the OL actually becomes good. if Thomas Jones is 11th in the NFL in rushing with this team, behind this OL, McFadden will do very well behind an improved OL, which is only 2 guys away from being good. so that basically negates the argument from those who say there's no holes for McFadden.
Our offense is closer to becoming an effective unit than our defense. My feeling is that we should do whatever it takes to fix our offense this year. We can then focus on defense in 2009. Spare parts (Vilma, Robertson, etc.) that do not fit can be traded during camp for extra draft picks in 2009. Early mock: 1.
