    jealous one envy.

If you guys dont give us your first he goes to a diffrent nfc team, and that team will go to the playoffs, and will be destroying what you falcons call an offense.

And trust me you will be saying damn we should of gotten abraham, mark my words. Dirty pigeon.

Why do so many Falcons fans talk like the Jets owe them something? John Abraham is the property of the Jets right now, and if the Falcons offer does not satisfy the Jets, then we move on. It's as simple as that.

Gee..you have gone awfully quite all of a sudden after people responded to you.

Rethinking that "John Abraham in the Mailroom" analogy??

I didn't forget it, what you say is completely true. I'm just asking everyone to look at it from the perspective of the person in this position. Two years in a row he's been tagged. He was also told that the Jets would be going 3-4 which leaves him odd man out on the line forcing him to become a LB, which isn't his natural position. The position he's played in Pro Bowls representing the team that signed him. All I'm saying is if I were in this situation I would have an aweful bitter taste from the way I'd been treated.

Seriously, I was one of the Falcons fans that was against the trade from the start because it involved our 1st round pick. Safety was/is our greatest need. Abraham would make us a much better team but not at the risk of watching RB/WRs get past the line and having to endure thier TD celebrations. Our starting safetys were so bad they were both demoted for "filler" we grabbed as the season progressed. Our DE Brady Smith was hurt and that really opened the left side of the field to teams. Problem was, once they did get past our rookie DE and rookie LB our veteran Safetys became a revolving door.

JAbe seems like he really wants to start over in Atlanta and I hope it happens as much for him as for myself now. I just hope we stick to our guns and build our secondary through the draft and to do that, we need our #15 pick. From the Falcons perspective, this is really tough because we are very aware how much DeAngelo Hall needs help. I just feel really bad for JAbe now. Until this offseason, I really didn't know much about him other than he had an impressive sack on Vick in the MNF game last season. It's hard to impress me when I watch us face Rice, Peppers and Darren Howard (Now Philly yay!) twice a season. But after watching some tape on him he is impressive. I can see why NY would like to keep him. But he doesn't want to be there and the sceme NY will institute doesn't suit him anyways. The Jets management should be willing to bend a little for a guy that has served them well in the past. He's a player that both parties, himself and the team, have mutually agreed their time together is over.

You mean the offense that dominated you on Monday night last season? The offense that led the league is rushing two years straight? Check your facts.

Bending a little and getting back well below market value are 2 different things.
They bent by allowing Abe negotiate with the Falcons prior to a deal getting worked out.
Its now time for the Falcons to up their offer if they really want him.

I don't think you owe us anything. I think you owe John Abraham. That's just my opinion.

That's what I've been trying to tell my 'hardheaded comrades' all of this time. JAbe is definitely worth our first rounder in my opinion. I can't speak for all of them, but I for one would give up the 15th pick for potentially the most awesome "D" to terrorize the NFC in 4 or 5 years!

When John was under contract, didnt he "owe" it to the Jets to do everything he could to play every game when doctors said he was okay to play?
Jets stopped owing anything to him when he stated that he wouldnt risk his next paycheck in free agency to play in the playoffs.

HAHAHAHA. We don't owe Abe anything, unless he comes back to the Jets this year and plays, then we'll owe him $8.3 million.

Doesn't the Franchise Tag assume that the team is willing to take the player back that year? By DEFINITION?

Actually Seattle didn't sign Hutch, he went to Minny. They signed Peterson, and reportedly they are still about 15million under the cap.

The Jets never agreed to anything with the Falcons. The new OF doesn't discussed contract negotiations. They haven't even announced the Catham and Oelhoffen signings yet. So whatever the source was that Mortenson was basing his analysis on, was in all likelihood from the Falcons. And yes there would be a motive to them negotiating with Abe before a trade deal was agreed on. They low balled the Jets and the talks stalled. So Seattle came in and made a better offer. So in order to stronge arm the Jets in an attempt to force the trade to through, they made an end-around, and agreed to a contract with Abe.

It means they want to get what they can for him. If they wanted him back they would offer him a longterm contract.

It's known throughout the NFL that the Jets are a classless franchise. They go back on their word and look like idiots. "Hey Abe if you play all season we'll work out a long term contract." Then comes the franchise tag again.

If the Falcons did that to a player I'd be embarrassed to be a Falcons' Fan!

OK..Lets see if I got this straight..

You hardheaded Falcon fans (not FastEdBo) are insisting that we trade you a 28 year old, Three Time Pro Bowl weapon that fills a major need for your team for only your #2 pick.

If you think that is fair value, then would you trade us, straight up, your 28 year old, three time Pro Bowl Tight End for our #2 pick?

Or would you trade your 28 year old 3 time ProBowl weapon that fills a major need for the Jets to us for our 28 year old 3 time ProBowl weapon that fills a major need for the Falcons?

Crumpler for the Jets #2...Yes or No?

Crumpler for Abraham? ...Yes or No?

And if no, please explain why.

Ah yes, the old grits slam! Perhaps if the North ate grits they could maybe find someone to run the Country. In the past 25 years the geniuses up North can't find a way to do that. Must be the pasta.

And actually grits are more common in Louisiana than Atlanta. Maybe you should try peaches next time.

It's true that we had some really bad play by our 'Safeties' last season, but you should also realize that we just signed Milloy and traded our 4th Rnd pick for Chris Crocker from Cleveland. That will be much better than those bums we had last year. Also, don't forget our LB Ed Hartwell went down and with him our run defense. With Hartwell healthy and the two Safeties we've signed, we're at best the league's 8-10th best defense because of the liability on the CB spot opposite of DeHall. Acquiring another DE (JAbe) would allow our "D" line to put so much pressure on opposing QB's, that can make up for the one CB spot shortcoming and put our "D" in the elite category (Top 5 D's). The "D" will no longer be a problem and we can move forward to fixing our biggest liability, the stinking OL that allows Vick to be sacked so much.

We couldn't trade Crumpler. He's the only one that can catch Vicks passes. Difference is our 3 time Pro Bowler that's 28 is happy where he's at and wants to return. We didn't have to franchise him to make him stay. However, if you guys want Keith Brooking I'm willing to talk.
