Mawae still counts a mil and change against the cap. I think Mangini really wants this to be his team. I agree I will miss Mawae but the youth movement is upon us. Also Mangini doesn't want someone older then him on the Jets..
To me, Mawae was a great pulling center who sometimes got overpowered by bigger d-linemen like Sam Adams and Pat Williams. It seems to me that one of the Jets problems the past couple of years was an inability to get tough yards in short yardage situations, especially goal-line situations, and that was because Mawae (and Moore and Kendall) sometimes didn't get enough of push on the interior of the line. Mawae might still be productive, but the Jets can probably find someone as good as he is for less money.
Bwahahaha. :rofl2: Posts like these are why none of the guests viewing the board will sign up. They're scared.
Posts like these make me want to choke the retardation out of RobA... Ya got to give him credit though....16-0 is indeed a BIT of a reach... Please God help this poor soul
I know we're all used to hanging on to players until their legs fall of, but this is how a smart FO works. By the time this team is rebuilt and ready to compete, Mawae will be at the end of his career. This is the right time to cut ties.
I couldn't agree more. Better to make the move just before the end than to wait until the last minute and then have to panic to fill the position. Mawae had the option of restructuring and still playing for considerably less money. He'll test the market now and will play somewhere, even as a backup, for several more years. In that way, it's a win-win for everyone, but it was time to move on, both because of his age and also for the cap relief so we can move on too.
Your sarcasm is getting more annoying by the day. And I never start these damn post fueds, you always do just to hear me reply. I told you opinions time and time again, but you refuse to accept my point of view. You believe what you wanna believe and I'll believe what I wanna believe. But stop ragging me about my opinions, it is getting old fast.
Guys who are old go downhill all at once, happens all the time. Martin and Mawae both fell off the cliff last year and both were over paid. Martin took a pay cut Mawae wouldn't it's that simple.
I think the comment "hasn't been for years" is a bit of an overstatement. The guy was in the pro bowl 6 fing years in a row from 1999-2004. If our team was healthy last year and he did not hurt himself it would have been his 7th in a row more likely. "I just don't understand where you are coming from by saying this about one of the best centers who has ever played the position"...
I would've taken Kreutz over Mawae for the last two years. Btw, Pro Bowl is useless when it comes to judging players.
I agree...Tom Nalen was also pretty good last year, as was Jeff Saturday. Bottom line, Mawae cost too much for his production level and it was time to get younger.
WHY DO PEOPLE HAVE TO START NEW THREADS ON SUBJECTS THAT HAVE THREADS ALREADY STARTED ON THE TOPIC? Ooooooops. Sorry about the caps :drunk:
