cause he is a whiney bitch, who is to sick to play in playoff games, who most of the time can not stay healthy. There is no doubt his talent but with those to negatives not to mention the others he is not worth it
well at this poiint re signing abe is out of the question. he said it himself he no longer wants to e here.
Who lied? Posters on a message board? Are you calling people liars because they changed their position? Dude, that happens. Circumstances change, fans are fickle and they decide to lynch a guy. Jet fans eat their own once we start losing anyway. People on a message board who are anonymous to me, lying about what they think. Yeah, I got time to worry about things like that in life.
He is the exact opposite type of player that Mangini would look for. He wants smart, tough players who are team first players. The Patriots philosiphy is also to not give big contracts to defensive players. Draft them, play them early, re-sign them before they get really expensive, and then at the end of their deal, replace them. He's not going to lock up a 28 year old to a 5-6 year deal.
the team said if he can show that he can play in all 16 games they would give him his long term deal and he did play in all 16 games.
As far as I know, for two reasons: Abraham feels unwanted (and rightly so) by the Jets organization. He is a very one dimensional DE. He can rush the passer better than most...however...he can't seem to get a handle on the run d.
What....do we amuse you...what are we...clowns? Tell me...exactly...what the f is so funny about us. Ok...no more quoting from classic movies. Why the need to call people jokes. Lets say some changed their minds....big deal...they are fans. Maybe some cant sleep at night knowing you might be representing us at other websites with the same name.
Ummmm.....I don't know why anybody would say we shouldn't sign him because he doesn't want to be here. He doesn't have to sign with us. If he did sign with us, that obviously means he does want to be here. If you offer him the type of money he's looking for, chances are he's going to accept.
Look at John Abraham from a different perspective. If John was a free agent on another team, knowing that he is a terrific pass rusher when healthy, and without knowing all the personal "things" about John that we know, would we as Jets fans be clamoring for the FO to bring him and sign him. Hmmm.
For the money Abe is going to cost us against the cap we can probably sign Sam Adams, Willie Mcgnist and draft Mario Williams. Think about that.
Very good point! Considering there are people around this board that are begging for the Jets to bring in Terrel Owens, this is a perfectly valid statement. Now to answer some posts made since my last one. I have NEVER ONCE changed my position on Abraham. I have been ALL IN FAVOR of keeping him here all along. Of course, all old posts are gone, so I have no solid evidence of that, but given that I have had this same argument numerous times over the past few months, I am sure there are a few guys on this baord who can attest to the honesty of my statement. 10Penny10 makes a good point. He is probably not a Mangini-type guy. Does that mean he is willing to sacrifice his talent? I don't know, and I guess we will see for sure before the end of the weekend. Hedoes have to sign with us. He can be signed-and-traded, but he does have to sign with us. It is totally up to the organization whether he ever wears a green and white jersey again. To call him one-dimensional, and then use that as a reason not to keep is wrong. If that is the case, why is Ellis still on the roster? He played -1 dimensional last year. Same goes for DRob. Should we just dump all the unproductive players from last year, rather than keep one of the only actual performers from last year? Back on the topic of him "not wanting to be here." I don't recall seeing that quote. I know everyone has reported that he told his friends he is unhappy with the way he has been treated. Do you blame him? He was flat out lied to. He did exactly what he was asked to do with the infamous ultimatum. He never complained about it, he just did it. Then the organization turned around and stabbed him in the back. Wouldn't you be pissed? I sure would. The only thing that has been said to the media by someone "in the know" is from JAbe's agent. What he said was that based on the way the situation has played out, he doesn't expect Abraham to be with the team next year. He didn't rule out that a deal could be reached. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they managed a deal at this point. Do I think Abe will be a Jet in September? No, I don't. Does that make me happy? Not one bit. Do I think there is still a chance he could be on the line next season in the Meadowlands? Yes I do.
bradway told him that. sadly for abe bradway no longer makes those decisions. so he had the choice to suck it up and prove himself to magini and mike t or cry his way out of town he chose the latter
To those who say he doesn't want to be here, that is only because he hasn't been offered a contract. Show him the money and he'll stay. And as for the comments, if a team let a player go every time he said something negative about the organization in the midst of a contract dispute, half the players in the NFL would be traded. Remember how Coles bad-mouthed the Jets, Edwards and everything green and white when he signed with Washington. And remember how most Jet fans hated him. That changed in a big hurry a year ago, didn't it? As for those who say Ellis compares to Strahan, that is a joke. It takes Ellis three years to match one year of Strahan's sacks. As for Abraham not playing the run, those who hold that opinion are echoing something they heard and are not watching the games. Over the last three years, Abraham has played the run as well as any lineman on the Jets. If he can't play the run, why does he consistently lead the defensive linemen in tackles? And one other question - where has it been decreed that the Jets are playing a 3-4. Mangini said he would structure his system around his talent and not the other way around. Let's face it, I admit I have been beating this drum for a long time. But there is nobody on the defensive side of the ball with the talent and the game changing ability and the numbers (sacks, forced fumbles, etc) that Abraham has. Without him, the defense becomes ordinary, the pass rush non-existent and the secondary exposed. Other than that, we'll be ok with Ellis' 7-8 sacks in a good year and Thomas' one sack a year. It is a mistake to let this guy go now that there is no longer a cap issue. Plain and simple. You don't replace a proven pro-bowl with a draft pick. Sign the man.
