He chose to stay in school because Parcell's wouldn't guarantee not to trade the pick. It had nothing to do with not wanting to come to the Jets. It's New York and they had the best coach in the land. If the great Parcels had told him the team would select and keep him, he'd now be a Jet.

I was going on memory, but here's an article from The New York Times (my emphasis)

Many believe, myself included, that if Parcells tells Manning you're my guy and he promises not to trade the pick, he's a Jet. But the Jets needed lots of help and Parcells wouldn't make the guarantee. This and passing on Dan Marino go down as the absolute worst move ever by Jets management; and there have been a lot of very bad ones.

No legits for me either then again i thought last year there wasn't any either outside of Flacco and Matt Ryan and Flacco were both very good rookie 1st round picks. I Would say if we cant get Sanchez we should look elsewhere although i do like Freeman, Might be just his Rocket of a arm im facinated by but he does look like a good qb just more 2nd round.

No. Just stating the obvious. Good or bad? We can judge that by our Superbowl rings in the last 7 years.

I just can't seem to get the recent interview with Namath (not just the Kolber one) out of my head. He said practically everything i believe. Why do we have players that are on our team that cannot contribute? ESPECIALLY at the QB position (allegedly).

Favre for Pennington i can understand. But the player evaluation on this team is mind boggling. Rex seems to me like a football coach, and that's why i feel he will make us successful. We have some outstanding talent that has yet to be used on this team, and i think that if we can establish the three principles of a great defense, power running, and deep threat receivers, that would be a great foundation for years to come.

None, and i mean none of the QB's mentioned strike me as franchise. Why settle for less? I like Cushing or any other Outside linebacker that can replace Thomas and Pace and push Gholston.

Most QB's that are going to make it have made it by the end of season two. So basically you're either going to bust or have your QB at close to full performance within two years of making the pick.

This franchise is just cursed, right down to having the #1 pick in the draft two years running and having ZERO franchise QB prospects and only one QB overall selected in those first two rounds.

That lousy luck probably cost us two Super Bowls over the next twelve years. Even if the guy they drafted in 1996 was a total bust and the team remained mired in last place we'd have gotten a do-over in 1997. That's a major bad mojo curse.

I wonder if anyone has seen Josh Freeman play a lot. You watch the clips and he looks awazing. Great physical skills and cannon arm. But it's easy to make someone look great in clips. I'd be more concerned about the criticism of his accuracy and that he'd just be another Browning Nagle. I don't see either of the two top QBs falling to 17 at this point.
