He was amazing at selling the fake in particular which bought him all kinds of time to let the play develop. I've never seen anyone do that better.

I have to feel somewhat curious weather or not some of those 20 yard blimps might find their mark more often if DBs had to worry about PA more. Fitz might be able throw to the open field and let the receiver run under it. Not saying it WILL work but as much as teams have to respect Ivory, I think it's worth investigating.

i disagree... in fact, playaction can make up for having a weak arm by increasing the window size on throws by fooling defenders into being out of position

It needs to be a short set play action though. Fitzpatrick isn't built for a 7 step drop w/ play-action although he could benefit from some rollouts and such I agree.

He sold fake as well as any QB I've seen. And when he turned around, he could process the defensive deployment quicker than most QBs - as well as any. These made him a lethal play action QB. [I don't think Fitz fits that description.]

It also comes down to how Fitz feels in play action. Maybe the staff recognizes he's not very good at it or Fitz himself knows he's not very good at it. Don't round peg a square hole just because it would be beneficial if we had a different player running it.

I see what you're saying. Chad was a Fulbright Scholar (runner up), but Fitz only graduated Harvard.

On a positive note, we are finally able to run some effective screen passes after 30 years.

Quick thinking has nothing to do with academic aptitude.

Tons of a play action. TONS!

Fans should be happy because I'm sure this will allow Gailey to open up the playbook for future games. The throws to Bohanon were great but we have no use for Cumberland.
