It's because I live in South Jersey and my CBS option for football is KC/Oakland at 4. No way is that relevant to South Jersey. Bunch of great 1pm AFC games and none of them can be on because the Eagles are on Fox. So no football for me this Sunday because fuck the NFL and their bullshit tv schedules. I think commercials are hurting the sport more than anything. 3rd and goal, touchdown, PAT, TV timeout, kickoff, TV timeout. Forget if it's near the end of the quarter. You'll be lucky to see 4 plays in 15 minutes. I really don't think people aren't watching though. I think people are watching in different ways. They also need to get rid of the Thursday Night games. I love that they're on, but it's often a shitty product and dilutes the sport. Goodell's dream of having the NFL on every day so he can personally make $150 million a year is terrible for football.
As a British 'veteran' we obviously don't get the same amount of love as US servicemen and women do and there isn't really a comparable situation to be had as our police (whilst not perfect) tend to be a bit less brutal in their implentation of the law. Having played in a couple of deserts with your chaps.......I can't imagine they'd be too happy at some millionaire has-been/never was choosing to not respect the flag. Indeed I've found that its one of the truly off-limits areas when it comes to pranks and japes when in close quarters and certainly ranks above inferences about their moms, wives, girlfriends, god and their masculinity or lack thereof.
That's the thing though. They might not be happy but they fully admit they fought to protect his right to protest like this. I don't see them getting all self-entitled about it like a lot of white folk that aren't the ones being unfairly targeted by the judicial system.
Nice to get an outside perspective. A hundred ways he could've gotten his point across, and he chose the most disrespectful and antagonistic, then acted like we're "missing the point". So glad they got their skulls bashed in today, even if it was the Bills.
His protest was perfect and worked. The silent ways you want would just help keep black people from making their point. Shooting, arresting, and imprisoning people because of their skin color is a lot worse than kneeling during the during the national anthem and it'd be insane to think otherwise.
Who said anything about "silent"? Join a rally. Give interviews speaking out. Do something POSITIVE, instead of insulting wide swaths of people you're trying to reach and calling attention to negatives. But nope, I must be trying to keep blacks silent. I'm such a race traitor. Get the fuck outta here. Are you trolling or is your worldview seriously that warped? I guess they figure it's a little early to make changes, or maybe they just wanted their precious Andrew Luck game, but they could've flexed it and chose not to (they can flex two between wks 5-10).
Good thing that he reached a whole bunch of non-racists...and insulted them into tuning him out without caring about his message. Because he couldnt have gotten attention with any other method, or reached anyone else, just a bunch of racists. At least I have an answer about your worldview. Have fun.
Or he just outed a lot of closet racists. Because only one could think a piece of cloth is worth more than a human life. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
Would I risk my own life for a teatowel? No. Would I risk my own life for the Union Jack? Yes. One is used to wash dishes the other is a physical representation of the history, present and future of the land and the people I call home. Its combined traditions, values and beliefs and a marker of all that has been sacrificed by others before me (in much dire circumstances) to give me and my kith and kin the opportunity to live free from some of the worst practices you see in other lands. Either Kaep is colossally unaware of what a flag actually is or he truly believes that his cause is truly bigger, more important and of such magnitude that it overides all or anything America has to be proud of. Whilst I agree it is a worthwhile issue to address, he could of done it in any other manner of both private and public ways that (whilst still invoking the ire of the 'closet racists') might not of put the backs up of people who might be genuinly sympathetic and ready to join the cause but not at the cost of being associated with a lack of patriotism.
So, if the flag represents the current history of the land and current history has said country discriminating against your people, wouldn't that make for a perfect thing to protest since you are protesting the symbol of a country who discriminates against your people?
Trying to stay awake through this pregame BS. I know why the ratings are down. Jesus, start the game at 7:00pm!!!
Love watching Randy Moss talk about how OBJ should be more team oriented in his celebrations. Pot meet kettle..
Because the history that flag represents isn't just plantation owners, overseers, trigger happy cops and the white man in general. It also represents the arsenal of democracy, Coke, Hollywood, Will Smith, Woodstock, JFK, Vietnam, Miracle on ice, Dream Team, New York, The Grand Canyon, Rosa Parks, MLK, The Apollo program, Apple Pie and on and on. The totality of American history is indivisible and you can't cherry pick the bits you don't like. If Kaep or anyone else has a problem with a specific issue then he should focus on that issue (maybe being so bold as to actually voice or back a solution or process) and make the appropiate and proportional protest. My only real bugbear with what he's done is that he has bought politics directly into sports and I like my sports without having to worry about wheter my RB supports Trump, What my FS views on gun control are and wheter my top CB is for or against amnesty for illegal immigrants.
oversaturation and 30 minutes of actual play taking 3 hours. its beyond reprehensible what they have done to the game. they sold their souls to tv 3 times over and now its beginning to hurt them. they also have completely catered everything to the fantasy douche fan, who isn't a real football fan, they are a fanboy of their little team they put together. which I feel has completely turned off a lot of the true ardent fans. as well as the farse that is the pink movement. I also think that playing on artificial turf in most places has made it more boring, the elements and field conditions add a lot to the games over the years. now its cookie cutter turf that's always the same. rather than creating a better product for the real fans they are so busy trying to add more fans that they turn off real fans and in the end the new fans don't really care, they will walk away in a heartbeat
