IMO the bolded names are the only players who have a chance of being drafted in the top 10. You have Wilson on there twice, by the way.

If we don't trade out from 4, I'd take Hamilton. Yes I know it's high for a safety but it's also a huge area of need and he would be BPA.

What's the point in stockpiling picks for 2023, when the pressure is supposedly on JD, Saleh and Zach to produce in 2022? If what some posters say is true, if the Jets struggle in 2022, Saleh could fired, the Jets give up on Zach, and maybe even JD is on the hot seat or gets fired. Picks for the next year have lesser value and that value can go down, that that team has a great year in 2022.

Sorry, but stockpiling picks for 2023 makes zero sense to me, and is the worst possible thing that JD could do. I think that would also cause the media and Jets fans to revolt and take out billboards or hire planes again, and I'd probably lose all faith in JD and join them.

I disagree that going BPA would assuredly mean that we'd take a D player at both picks. With three OL, and possibly a couple of WRs rated that highly, one or both of our picks could wind up being an offensive player.

I think we can improve both units this offseason. The problem with plugging up the offense with proven vets falls apart at the WR position. Mike Williams is big, but a possession-type WR. DJ Chark is a good #2 or #3 WR, but other than those two, who is elite and going to make our WR corps significantly better? Adams is out of the question. He's too old and will be too expensive. Thomas hasn't played in 2 years, is coming off a major injury, and has had issues with NO. I'm not trading for him. I would have been all in on Godwin if he hadn't torn his ACL, but he did, and who knows when he will be healthy or how well he will play this season? I'm not trading for Ridley, either, unless we can get him for a 5th round pick. I'm for adding Chark or someone else that's a reliable depth WR in FA, and for signing a FA RG and TE, but think we are going to have to draft a WR.

Just any WR isn't good enough. Olave and Dotson are too similar to Moore in size and skill sets. We can't afford to draft Williams and then him not play until 2023. Bell might be a possibility, but Burks is the WR we need.

What do you mean by whom?
    "); display: inline-block; height: 24px; width: 24px; margin-top: -1px; transform: rotateZ(-180deg);">

(formal) What person or people; which person or people, as the object of a verb. ... Whom is formal English and is used instead of "who" when the sentence is referring to an object pronoun and not when the sentence is referring to a subject pronoun such as he or she.

So it is still Who would you draft.

    I think :D:D:D

I'm northern so formal English is not required.

Here would be my preference as of right now for 4th:

    1) Pray one of Hutchinson or Thibodeaux falls to 4 and take them.
    2) If Hutch/KT are off the board, take the OT the scouting dept. prefers (my preference would be Ekwonu then Neal).
    3) If for whatever reason they feel there's a huge drop-off from their top 3 to their 4th, or someone offers you a Godfather deal, trade back a few spots.

2 & 3 are subject to flip flop depending on how good of an offer we get for the pick.

10th is such a crapshoot at this point but I'd target EDGE (Karlaftis), OL (Cross, Linderbaum, Green), WR (Olave, Burks, Wilson).

    1. Thibs
    2. Hutch
    3. Hamilton

Hamilton is just too good a player to pass on, he’s the type of player you build your D around. He’s as elite a prospect as there is.

I’d go with the stud talent on D at 4 then target Burks/Wilson at 10 and McBride at 35

Ultimately it is a free market with enough competitors (32), so all these analytics you speak of are factored in. All teams have vast analytics investments and has had them for years. And free market tells us Safety and RB are not premium positions compared to others, like OLine, DE, etc... Maybe as you say teams underrate it, but then free market factors availability as well, and that should be included in true value. Free market is most accurate indication of true value.

And eye test supports that as well, which is why you rarely see a good younger non injury prone Edge even hit the market. When they do, price is though the roof. By the same token, Jets will have plenty of options to sign a really good safety for under 13 mil this off season, and I actually expect them to do it.

You did bring up an interesting point about TEs making less than RB. When you look at transition tag, which factors I think top 10 earners as opposed to 5, you see that TE is actually ahead of RB. Though both still well below OLine, CB, WR, etc... Another point is that sometimes even when someone is playing non premium position (S, TE, RB), they are such a great prospect, taking them at top 10 still makes sense. Barkley, Jamal Adams, Kyle Pitts, Hockenson, Fournette, McCaffrey were the ones that went top 10 in the last 5 years.

Maybe Hamilton is the guy this year, but we can get a really good safety as a free agent and save a premier draft pick for someone who is both premier talent and premier position, like Ike Ekwonu IMO. And you know what, if Hamilton is still there at 10, and he is as good a prospect as everyone says, maybe then we can take a shot then, depending on who else is left. But to spend #4 on a safety, where we can have a really good proven one in free agency without spending a pick or breaking the bank for that matter, to me is not the best move for the Jets.

I like it all but your comments about the 10th pick. IMO no way Karlaftis, Green, or Olave are worthy of the #10 pick. Cross is only worthy for the Jets if they're giving up on Becton. Wilson is too similar to Moore in size and skill set and not what the Jets need most at WR. The only two players in your list that I see as being worthy of the #10 pick are Burks and Linderbaum (in that order).

I could get on board with that if they re-sign Moses and draft an OT in the 2nd or 3rd round. With Becton's health a question mark. We cannot have the possibility of Edoga or McDermott having to see the field again this season. I agree with the positives you list for Hamilton, but Zach trumps that. He has to be protected. If there are any doubts about the OT position or RG, then an OT has to be the pick at #4.

Exactly! When our top 10 pick rolls we will see if Linderbaum or Burks (assuming JD values him as high as some of us do) is there. If they are, we run to the podium. If not, and someone wants to come up to get a QB while offering a good comp to go up to 10 spots back, we can do it, because chances are we may get similar level or even same guy we get at 10 - say at 18. It has to depend on who is there though and how much compensation (if any at all) is offered. But right now I cannot say I definitely want to trade back from #10. And certainly I do not want to trade back from 4 (unless compensation is vast) and lose Ekwonu.

The thing that is starting to concern me regarding Burks is that if the Falcons trade Ridley, then they're probably going to take a WR at #8. In his latest mock, Daniel Jeremiah had the Falcons taking Burks at #8. Maybe they'll take Wilson, but I doubt we'd get that lucky.

I hear there's a lot of character issues with olave. I also heard his route running sucks, and he's kinda lazy...I liked what I did see at OS...but this needs looking into

My thoughts will almost certainly change over the next few months as we work through FA but I disagree on the bolded. I think all the guys I mentioned would be worthy of a top 10-15 pick as of right now. Will I still want to target them on draft day? Well that depends, did we sign Scherff in FA? Did we trade for Ridley, Cooper, etc.?

We'll have a much better idea on how our roster looks and who we "should" target in the draft after FA.

Interesting. I believe he's one of the best route runners in the class, maybe even the best.

I haven't heard anything about character concerns with him either. Did you read this somewhere? If so, send me the link. I'd be interested to read it.

Here is my sarcastic view about some fans big push for Ridley. Get ready to do a 360 and shit all over JD if it goes south. That seems to be par for the course here. All the great free agent move talk will be soon forgotten. It is all good and well now, but after we pay top $$ and he rears his ugly issue again, like in Atlanta, then they will turn against JD and will obliterate Him with the usual BS after the fact comments “ Everyone knew about his issues and that is was high risk and a bad move” no different than the shit they use now for every player that has underperformed or been unfortunate enough to get injured and miss significant time. Add one more bad free agent signing to the list.
If I was JD I would walk carefully here. Buyer beware. Taking low risk high reward moves is one thing, this is high risk and high reward. This year we need to reduce risk with more sure moves. Pass on Ridley.

I hadn't thought of that, but you know, reflecting on your post, sadly I think you're probably right. We definitely have some disingenuous/duplicitous posters here, and it would be totally in character for them to do this just so they could try to prove themselves right and smarter than JD and everyone else.
