I've jumped on the White bandwagon a little bit so I'd go with him. Still not sure I'd take him over Cooper but maybe. From what I've heard Cooper may be the better route runner but White a better redzone target. Other people who watched far more NCAA could probably confirm or refute that.
Collins is my number 1 o-lineman in this draft. I would also take Clemmings (highest ceiling IMO), Fisher, and Peat before Flowers as OTs. I would also pick Scherff to play OG before selecting Flowers in this draft. I don't care how many times an o-linemen can bench 225 or how fast they run their forty. My biggest takeaways from the combine for an o-lineman are the positional drills. On film, Collins appears to be the strongest player because of how easily he dominates other players. On the other hand, Flowers had the worst footwork by far of the top OT prospects. He looks like he is moving in quicksand.
He is not a top 10 pick. And I sure don't want to see the JETS pick a guy that high and move him to guard because he has POTENTIAL smh.
He can play more then just G, I think he could absolutely play RT in this league as well. 3 out of the 5 positions on the line.
yeah and i think it's a fair comparison. he'll be a top G or RT very quickly in this league, and probably will end up playing both in his career. if i thought he could play LT too, i'd be all over that pick at 6. would even consider him just to play G and RT.
Kevin White or Dante Fowler, whoever they prefer. I'm not touching Schreff at 6. I honestly don't think he's even close to worth it. My personal opinion on him aside, not sure how I'd feel about taking a Guard who may be able to play RT at 6.
it's a bit of a stretch to take a G/RT at 6, unless you think that player has perennial pro bowl potential with a very high floor. for instance, if Zack Martin hypothetically re-entered the 2015 draft, would you take him at 6? i would. he was my 2014 draft crush (along with Jordan Matthews). was really hoping he'd fall to our pick, but didn't. in other words, a sure thing at a less impactful position can sometimes be better than reaching for potential at a flashier position. the only position i'd reach a little is at QB, specifically Mariota if he were to fall to 6..
Well if I had a guarantee that he was going to be our starting G for the next 12 years and make multiple pro bowls, yea I'd take him. As it stands now, I think he is overrated and not worth nearly where the Jets are selecting.
fair enough. it's not so much the position/s he plays, but the player himself for you. ie, not sold on Scherff's abilities. personally i loved his tape, his experience, and his versatility. smart and aggressive. the combine didn't hurt either, as he is more athletic than i thought. not sure he is another Zack Martin or not though... my only point is if the FO feels he is, than taking at 6 should be on the table of discussion.
And if you had a chance to watch him at the combine, you would know that DJ Fluker isn't a first rounder either, but he is a better OT in the NFL than either Fisher or Joeckel, and it's debatable whether or not Lane Johnson is better.
