I'm on board with this train of thought. You would have POTENTIALLY the best young talent on that side if the ball in the NFL. Wilk, snacks, Coples, S Rich, Dee, Davis, Denard...don't sleep on Antonio Allen either in 2014. Go out and get CJ this week, snag another FA tight end on a team friendly deal (draft one too in the third). That gives a lot of flexibility in the 1st two rounds. I'd love to see Denard at 18( I fear he won't be there then though, and in that case I'm not a huge fan of Fuller). And a receiver in the 2nd
Okay got me there with the assistant GM position. But I won't back off mu stance that I'm not buying Idzik as a scouting extraordinaire. Again ... Why 20+ years for an opportunity? Im dyin for a good answer and I am quite open to being convinced. But if he was such a great scout and such a key personnel decision maker on good teams I have an extraordonarily hard time believing he was so great a pro personnel evaluator. Strange, a tweet we could all see from Brian Costello said he scouted with Tampa, an email to you which we can not see purportedly says that he was never a scout. So we now have Brian Costello said he was a scout with Tampa and 3 GMs reference him working on the scouting end but you are still going to go with "Very good but nothing saying he was pro scout"
Is this still a debate whether Idzik knows scouting or not? I mean Jesus. You have to be a fuckin moron to think he has never scouted before. This argument is like trying to argue that the world is flat. All the proof says it is round, but a select few just insist it isn't. Dumbass fuckin argument man
most of these g.m's grind away for years before they get their chance, if they ever do. there are only 32 jobs. but you are dug in so i am not going to try to change your mind. here is another link from one of the moct cynical beat writers the jets have, cimini: http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/8860314/new-york-jets-gm-john-idzik-football-man-core
Woody - We need a cap guy and nothing more. Rex - Well I hear this guy John Idzik got a degree in math from Dartmouth. Woody - Wow! That's a good school. Rex - Hell yeah it is. Woody, fuck the talent evaluating. We need to hire a guy who has a math degree. Plain and simple. Nothing more. Woody - Alright, I'll give him a call. He's the guy we want.
Fellow it seems we getting no where. For some reason u guys think I have a personal agenda against Idzik. Believe me I don't. I'll respect your opinions without the bs remarks. Please respect mine without the bs remarks. The only reason I felt I had to respond was because of the crummy wise ass cracks made. I like to believe as Jet fans we above slamming each with these remarks. Let's just agree to disagree.
It's like this on every god damn thread recently, jets fan now fighting over a GM we hired a year ago! It's obnoxious and boarder line hijacking the thread. Please keep it on topic and not a 2 person, multi post argument about something that is insane to fight about in the first place! Love being a Jet fan though and love this site. We are a whacky bunch fellas...
I don't understand how you can disagree on something factual. It just doesn't make any sense. You're telling me John Idzik lied on camera in front of the press in his introductory press conference? You're telling me a tweet from Brian Costello on the internet for the world to see is not proof? You're telling me you really think the words Pro Personnel and Scout don't mean Pro Scout? It was an incorrect narrative from the start.
This is the new Mark Sanchez argument. They both enter every thread no matter what is being talked about. This argument is even being featured in a thread about who fans would want to see start opposite of Milliner, are people fuckin serious?
Well I'll go with the GMs that think Idzik " is also a football guy. He knows players, he knows talent. He has a unique eye for evaluating players." over your stance "that I'm not buying Idzik as a scouting extraordinaire." And 20 years to move to one of the top positions with a team in the NFL is not an extraordinary amount of time. John Schneider was in the league 17 years before becoming a GM, but I am not going to get into that useless conversation.
Yeah you are. If you wanna keep arguing about something against all facts, you will be labeled a moron. In your argument you are saying his past scouting does not exist and all the coaches and executives who have consistently preached about his talent evaluating are all lying. You have no ground to stand on in this argument, yet you continue on.

Oh man. You found an article to help validate your argument. Let's ignore the thousand other articles and "sources" that work against you. Priceless. I can show you a million reasons why people believe the world is flat. Does that still make it flat?
